One of the hardest lessons in adulthood…there’s no one to go to for comfort when you’ve lived long enough. Even if elderly parents are still alive most likely you are taking care of them and they are relying on you. You are now the one every one relies on for comfort, help, a listening ear. And it can feel very, very isolating when you have huge problems looming that feel un bearable. So you hide it all behind a smile and hope for the best while charging ahead, carefully, because a fall (literally or situationally) that would have been forgettable in your youth can take months or years to recover from when you’ve aged.

And I still try to even when I’ve been trying not to. It literally makes me physically ill to stand up for myself and my beliefs sometimes.

sometimes fb memories delivers a gut punch. It just brought up a photo of Larry's injury that led to sepsis and going into hospice. This year in July will be 3 years. I don't know if I will ever get past the "I should have...I could have." thinking. I thought it would get easier, as many tell me it should be. I drive by the hospice house all the time and always there is a knot in my stomach.
