It's a happy married couple, one part Martha, one part David. Our niece could not pronouce either name when she was two, so she gave us a collective nickname. The process: I (Martha) go to one of several local fabric stores (and Etsy fabric shops) and stare at all the colors and patterns. Several yards always seem to follow me home. Then, after I wash and iron my new finds, I stand in my studio, g
rab a lonely piece of fabric and then play matchmaker. I love fabric that's beautiful, meaningful, goofy, weird or completely touchable. Or all of the above at once. I make everything myself with the help of my trusty Singer and a steady supply of good music and silly podcasts about history, science or various TV shows.
