Friends, I need to ask for your help. I don’t make posts like this very often, but this is one of those moments where our community has the opportunity to change someone’s life.
We have a senior client who has experienced unimaginable loss. In a very short time, she lost her husband, her son, and her grandson; all of whom lived with her and paid the bills while she herself was overcoming some serious medical issues. Today, she is carrying the weight of caring for the family members who remain while trying to keep a roof over their heads and grieving her losses.
She can no longer afford to stay in her home. She is currently waiting on a forbearance decision that will hopefully give her enough time to move without losing everything. At the same time, her Social Security income has been delayed due to a paperwork error. As if that weren’t enough, her only vehicle has been sitting because she purchased the brake parts, but the person who had agreed to repair it never came back. Even reliable transportation has become another obstacle.
Our goal is to help her transition into a safe, affordable home with as much dignity and as little stress as possible. We need to clean the home, pack and organize the move, help locate a three-bedroom rental, and disperse the remaining belongings.
Every year, I set aside part of our profits to help one or two families who cannot afford our services. Unfortunately, that fund has already been exhausted, and this situation simply can’t wait.
Christina & Co To The Rescue will donate as much of our own labor as we possibly can. However, we’re in the middle of one of our busiest seasons, and this project will require resources beyond what we can provide on our own.
Any financial donations will go directly toward third-party expenses such as moving trucks, dumpsters, professional cleaning, packing supplies, and other costs associated with getting this family safely into their next home. I will gladly provide receipts, invoices, and updates so everyone knows exactly how those funds are being used.
I also understand that times are tough for so many families right now. If you’re not in a position to give financially, please don’t feel like that’s the only way to help.
Your time, your talents, your connections, your prayers, or simply sharing this post may be just as valuable.
Maybe you’re a mechanic who could install brake parts.
Maybe you know of an affordable 3-bedroom rental.
Maybe you have boxes or packing supplies.
Maybe you can spare a few hours to help pack.
Maybe you know someone who can help in a way we haven’t even thought of yet.
