Choosing your countertops can be the most challenging yet essential decision you make when designing your kitchen. Countertops often serve as the centerpiece of style in a kitchen, and there are a wide variety of different materials you might choose. With so many different choices and factors to take into consideration when selecting your kitchen countertops, it helps to know all you can. So, let’s take a look at some of the pros and cons of different materials so you can make the smartest choice.

Marble vs. Quartz Countertops

If you prioritize beauty, your choice is likely going to come down to marble vs quartz countertops. Marble is softer and more vulnerable to scratches as a result. It’s also a little bit more expensive and needs to be periodically resealed. Yet, it holds an allure to some that make it superior to other materials.

Quartz, on the other hand, is known to be a bit more durable and doesn’t require quite as much maintenance. It’s suitable for handling the everyday abuse of a kitchen, able to withstand serrated knives, hot pans, and almost any stain. Both materials come in customizable colors and styles.

Solid Surface Countertops

These countertops are like an upgraded version of laminate, with a higher level of durability. They are non-porous, easy to clean, resistant to scratching, and available in a wide variety of colors, patterns, designs, and styles. Solid surface texture is smooth across the board, with no gaps, cracks, bumps, or other deformities in the material.

Concrete

Concrete countertops are usually custom-built, meaning the quality can vary greatly. They are durable when faced with heat, scratches, and cuts, but they can be chipped around the edges easily. Can be sealed with a penetrating formula for heat protection, or a topical method for stain protection. The downside to concrete countertops is that they can develop salt efflorescence stains very easily, which can be difficult to remove if left to build up too long.

Wood Kitchen Countertops

Otherwise known as butcher’s block, these countertops are stylish and functional. Depending on what you seal/stain them with, they are usually durable when faced with heat. Varnished wood kitchen countertops resist stains very well, while oil-finished countertops are better with heat but bad with stains.

Limestone

Natural limestone counters are most desired for their beauty. Not mainly known for durability, they will nick, cut, scratch, and stain easily. Stains must be immediately blotted, and the counters need to be resealed periodically as well.

Your Ideal Countertops Will Depend on Your Needs

When it comes down to it, what you’ll be using your countertops for and what your priorities are will ultimately determine which type is best for you. Whether you’re looking for beauty, durability, ease of maintenance, or something else, this article should help you pick out the best kind for your kitchen. With a little research, you should have no problem making your choice.

Are you still at that way? You don't really believe that it will be beneficial for you to hire a cleaning service? Are you suspicious about the quality of the work or the overall safety of hiring a cleaning service? A lot of people were skeptic but they did it either way, they made a change in their life and they were satisfied. Or is it just that you are unsure? You wanted to do it several times already but you gave up on the idea because of some irrelevant reasons? Our answer to you is: "Go for it! “ You are missing a great thing. It sounds untrue, but it will really make you wish you have done it earlier.

Why should you really hire a cleaning service? There are plenty of reasons that can answer this question. The lifestyle of a Man in 21st century is fast paced and it is really hard to catch up with everything. From the moment you get up you constantly think about doing some work or achieving some goals, spending time with your family and, in the end, a lot of obligations make you too tired to use that little free time efficiently. Some people tire themselves even more by trying to do house chores that other people can do for them. Are you one of those people?

The thing is – it does not have to be like that. Those boring and tiresome jobs can be done with extreme quality if you choose the right cleaning service. Do not try to clean yourself if there are people who have already specialized in that. Finally decided? Need some help in the start? Here are some things you should pay attention to when hiring a cleaning service.

The beginning

Look for a professional. The professionals are always willing to give you information about them, to give you detailed list of the jobs they are doing and the detailed pricing list, plus they will guarantee that the job will be done, if not, they will probably have the money-back policy.

Contact them, visit their website and see what it is all about. It is good to inform yourself, see which cleaning service will suit your needs. Most importantly, talk to the people whose services you are about to use. This way you will realize that they really take their job seriously and that your satisfaction is their primary goal.

Happy customers

Most people are afraid of the unknown. But this is just something that you have not tried yet. There are a lot of happy customers out there. To some of them, hiring a cleaning service was a life changing experience. You know that feeling of suspicion when you look at some commercial on TV and you think it is unreal? When people giving the feedback about that specific thing are so happy? Well get rid of that feeling, it is your enemy! Believe in all of the happy customers that are already using the services.

It is time that you finally enjoy those free hours that you have. Do not spend the relaxation time by tiring yourself even more. Make the decision, remove the suspicion and believe that hiring a cleaning service will really be a life changing experience for you!

More and more people are making the switch to eco-friendly products for cleaning their home. In 2019 alone, the green cleaning market amassed $3.9 billion dollars in sales, and a study done on ‘going green’ showed that 77% of people want to learn how to be eco-friendlier. We’ve created a guide on eco-friendly cleaning hacks to help you go into 2023 with a healthier home.

What’s so bad about conventional household cleaners?

The trusted household cleaning products you grew up with may not be so trustworthy when it comes to what they may be doing to your and your family’s health.

Benefits of using eco-friendly and DIY cleaners

The most obvious benefit of using non-toxic cleaners is that they’re better for your health. But there are other benefits, too.

Better for animals. Eco-friendly cleaning products are generally cruelty-free and not tested on animals

Better for waterways. Cleaning chemicals that go down the drain end up in waterways and poison the water and wildlife.

Lower your carbon footprint. Natural products generally have recyclable, compostable, or biodegradable packaging to reduce landfill waste. If you use DIY cleaners, there’s no extra packaging waste at all.

Make your house smell delightful. No chemical smells — just natural, delicious plant scents.

Choosing eco-friendly cleaning products

If you’d rather buy your cleaning products than make them, you’re in luck. Small, natural cleaner brands are popping up all over, offering non-toxic, biodegradable cleaners for every job. Even the big brands are getting on board and creating lines of non-toxic or less-toxic cleaning products. Here’s how to choose the right ones:

Check the ingredients list. Before you toss that bottle of dish soap in your cart, check out the ingredients list. If you spot any of the terrifying ten, put it back on the shelf and continue your search.

Look for certifications. Certifications such as Fair Trade, Leaping Bunny, USDA Organic, EPA Safer Choice, and FSC are all signs the product you’re looking at is safe for your household.

I bought a new oven this year. At the time, I thought having a self-cleaning oven was stupid. I never had to clean my old one and assumed that lacking the clean function would be no big deal. I have since found it would have been a worthwhile addition to my new appliance. Just two months into this new lifestyle, the entire bottom of the pan was charred and it smokes up every time I turn it on. One frozen pizza is all it takes to make my oven black with soot. So, I decided to google "how to clean oven" and see what the experts have to say.

Harmful products for the oven

I came across the suggestion that you have to purchase an oven with a self-cleaning function. Thanks for that. I should have Googled it before buying. The next thing that I found scared me. It was an article all about how oven cleaning products are harmful and basically get into everything that you cook. Once sprayed into your oven, the chemicals continue to bake into everything you cook for years after. Imagine thinking about this every Thanksgiving as we feed our families. I could possibly wipe out an entire generation with one good meal.

The problem with oven cleaning products is that contain chemicals that break down grease. If you have ever touched grease you know that that is no small feat. You can’t just use liquid detergent; grease is difficult to cut through. The chemicals that have really bad stuff are going to make your oven clean, but is it really worth eating them for years to come?

Natural products

I went to the grocery store to try some natural products, but after spending hours spraying and heating the oven, I got nowhere. Not only did it fail to cut through the grease, it did little more than making the food I baked taste bad. Back to the drawing board. Most frustratingly, when you spray anything into the oven, it gets trapped in the drawers, the coils, and the door. Even if I thought about throwing caution to the wind, it looked too complicated to spray and get all the bad chemicals off.

A better combination

I have found that a combination of lemon juice, baking soda, and vinegar did a fairly decent job of cleaning up the oven. Admittedly, the homemade recipe doesn't do the same amazing job that a good can of Oven Off can do. However, if the combo gets into our food it won’t do anything to harm us.
