Sarah heard the garage door going up from inside the house.

Her stomach dropped.

She was standing at the kitchen sink when she remembered.

The stroller.

Her neighbor had texted that morning asking if she could borrow it for the weekend. Sarah had completely forgotten about it until she saw her walking up the driveway.

“Give me one second!”

Too late.

Her husband had already hit the button.

The garage door slowly lifted.

First came the row of shoes by the door.

Then the bags of clothes Sarah had been meaning to donate.

Then the half-broken-down Amazon boxes.

Then everything else.

Christmas decorations that never made it back into the attic. Two bikes the kids had outgrown. A folded table from a birthday party six months ago. Storage tubs stacked three high with absolutely no system to them.

And somewhere behind all of it was the stroller.

Her neighbor didn’t say anything rude.

That almost made it worse.

“Oh! No rush. I can come back.”

Sarah laughed.

“No, it’s fine. Our garage is just… a disaster right now.”

She said it casually.

Like it had happened recently.

It hadn’t.

That night, Sarah stood in the doorway between the kitchen and the garage and actually looked at it.

She couldn’t remember when they stopped parking inside.

She couldn’t remember what was in half of the boxes.

She could remember at least four different Saturdays when she’d told herself:

“This weekend, we’re cleaning out the garage.”

But Saturday would come.

Soccer. Birthday parties. Groceries. Laundry. Dinner.

And the garage would wait.

Again.

She thought about starting right then.

She picked up one box.

Opened it.

Old school papers. Three extension cords. A Halloween costume. Something that belonged to a vacuum they didn’t own anymore.

She closed the box.

Nope.

Because it wasn’t really a cleaning project anymore.

Every single thing required a decision.

Keep it?

Donate it?

Trash it?

Where does it go?

Does anyone even use this?

And if they got rid of everything they didn’t want… how were they getting all of it out of there?

Sarah went back inside and shut the door.

Then she picked up her phone.

A few weeks later, she hit the button again.

The garage door went up.

This time, she didn’t care who saw it.

Both cars fit.

The donation bags were gone.

The trash was gone.

Everything they kept had a place.

And for the first time in years, opening the garage door didn’t make her want to immediately close it again.

All because she finally decided she didn’t have to do it herself.

Sometimes the hardest part of a messy garage isn’t cleaning it.

It’s starting.

That’s where Simply Organized comes in.

This attic transformation was HUGE. 🙌

There were things up here that hadn’t been seen or touched in 10+ years, and the thought of tackling it had become way too overwhelming to even know where to start.

We paired their attic + garage together and knocked BOTH out in the same day!

✨ Old furniture and trash removed
✨ Years of forgotten items sorted through
✨ Holiday décor grouped together by holiday
✨ Everything organized and labeled
✨ Actual usable attic space again!

They went from barely being able to see what was up there to having an attic they can actually walk through, find things in, and USE.

We don’t typically take on attics, but I have to say… this one was SO satisfying. 😍

If your garage (or the space above it 👀) has gotten too overwhelming to tackle on your own, send us a message. We’ll help you get it knocked out.

Cross-country move + going from having a basement to not having one = a garage FULL of boxes 😅

After the move, everything that would’ve normally gone into their basement, plus plenty of random boxes, landed in the garage.

We came in and:
• Emptied and sorted through the garage boxes
• Moved holiday décor and other storage items into the attic
• Transferred loose items and cardboard-box storage into tubs
• Consolidated the items they still want to go through into tubs so they can easily decide what stays and what goes
• Broke down all of the moving boxes
• Hauled away 2 full truckloads of trash
• Organized the garage and gave everything a place

There are still a few tubs for them to make decisions on, but instead of a garage buried in moving boxes, they now have a clean, functional space where they can actually find what they need.

Moving is exhausting enough. The garage doesn’t have to be the project that sits there for the next six months. 😅

Getting ready to sell a house is basically moving twice. 😅

First you have to get it ready for pictures and showings… then you still have to actually move.

This week we’ve been helping a client tackle that first part.

We’re going room by room:
• Decluttering what doesn’t need to make the move
• Removing trash + donations
• Packing things they’re keeping but don’t need right now
• Clearing surfaces and closets
• Getting each space ready for staging and showings

And we’ve already hauled out multiple truckloads while getting a big portion of the house cleaned up and ready.

If you’re planning to sell and looking around thinking, “I don’t even know where to start,” this is something we can help with.

Comment or message MOVE and we’ll get you a quote.
