It's been in the 40s at night and the 70s during the day for a few weeks now, so it's about that time of year the grass starts going dormant. You can already tell it's starting to lose its green and turn a little brownish. Lawn care around Irmo and Lake Murray. Call or text 803-407-7000.

The Father-in-Law Lawn Saga, Part 4. In the garage, here's his problem: the mower is almost at its max height. With Bermuda, put it down on one of your lowest settings and mow every five days in the summer, weekly when it's not as hot. That's why I don't recommend Bermuda unless you plan on being a real warrior out there. It's super high maintenance to make it look right. Lawn care around Irmo and Lake Murray. It's so over. Cold nights are taking their toll and the color is starting to go. A frost any day now and it goes brown overnight. Treatments don't stop, though: keep putting out pre-emergents if you want a good-looking lawn in the spring. That's when professionals keep working. Lawn care around Irmo and Lake Murray. The Father-in-Law Lawn Saga, Part 3. The biggest thing on his Bermuda: the mow height is too high, about three to three and a half inches. That gives it the thin, receding-hairline look. You fix most Bermuda problems by lowering the mow height and mowing more often, every five days or so in the summer heat. My guess is old boy's getting a little lazy. We'll go in his garage and see about his mower. Lawn care around Irmo and Lake Murray. Call or text 803-407-7000.

The Father-in-Law Lawn Saga, Part 2. He's getting thinning along the pine straw line, which is pretty common. You get erosion, and pine straw tends to mess up your pH. His company likely isn't doing a soil test and customizing to fix it, so anything downhill from pine straw can get really out of whack. Weed-wise, he has pretty good coverage: a little sedge, some ponyfoot in the front yard, nothing crazy. Lawn care around Irmo and Lake Murray. Call or text 803-407-7000.

I just got done with this centipede yard, and it looks absolutely incredible. Look closely up at the top, though, and you'll see some Bermuda starting to poke through. It comes in from your neighbor's yards, and if a company cuts your grass, their equipment can track in the seeds. It can come from birds, and the wind can blow some in the yard. It's common: I see this in about 90% of the yards. There's really nothing much you can do to get rid of it, and there's no chemical for it. Lawn care around Irmo and Lake Murray. The Father-in-Law Lawn Saga, Part 1. My father-in-law's not home, so we're in his lawn before he gets back from work. He's got Bermuda in the suburbs of Atlanta, a little bit behind enemy lines. First find: some dog p*e damage. He's using mushroom compost, and that's probably my advice. Lawn care around Irmo and Lake Murray. Call or text 803-407-7000.

SpringGreen versus no SpringGreen. A yard that's treated by us, and a yard that doesn't get treated: complete difference. If your yard looks like the untreated grass and you want it to look like the treated yard, give SpringGreen a call. Lawn care around Irmo and Lake Murray. Call or text 803-407-7000.

All these little brown spots through this centipede lawn were dallisgrass. Almost nothing gets rid of it, but we've found a chemical that does: this was sprayed about three weeks ago and roughly 75% of it is gone. A few little pieces are coming back, so it got sprayed again, and in another couple of weeks it should all be gone. It's centipede safe, and Bermuda, zoysia and St. Augustine safe too. Mushrooms don’t mean your lawn is dying, they usually mean it’s alive and thriving. These sudden sprouts are the fruit of underground fungi breaking down old roots, wood, and organic matter. When the soil is damp and conditions are right, mushrooms appear overnight as part of nature’s recycling system. Learn more in our new blog! https://bit.ly/4qJP4ra
