A visit to one of Indiana's most historic landmarks 🏛️🕊️

Last week we had the opportunity to perform a chimney swift inspection at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Established in 1863, Crown Hill is one of the largest cemeteries in the United States, spanning more than 550 acres and serving as the final resting place for generations of Hoosiers, including veterans, community leaders, and notable Indiana figures. Its historic buildings and masonry structures also provide important habitat for wildlife...including chimney swifts.

Chimney swifts are remarkable migratory birds that rely on chimneys and similar vertical structures for nesting and roosting. Because they're federally protected during nesting season, inspections like these help ensure both the birds and these historic structures are cared for responsibly.

It's always rewarding when our work allows us to help preserve both wildlife and pieces of Indiana history.

A look into a project we're working on: Bat Removal. 🦇

Last week, our technician Owen installed a one-way exit door on the roof, allowing the bats to leave safely while preventing them from re-entering the home. After we've confirmed they've all exited, we'll return to permanently seal the entry points and complete the exclusion process.

It's a step-by-step process that ensures the bats are removed safely before the home is fully sealed.
