Sparkle Tip: This summer's heat has been one for the record books. To keep cool, most of our fans along with AC have been running nonstop. Here is one simple tip to quickly and easily clean your ceiling fan from dust. Grab a pillowcase, open it, and place your ceiling fan blade inside of the pillowcase. Now use the pillowcase as your duster. Simple right? This technique will clean the top and bottom of your blades while catching the dust that will inevitably fall.

Touch of Sparkle Cleaning & Organizational Specialist, would like to dedicate the month of August to our amazing Educators! This is always the most hectic time of the year! Most schools start out with a week of inservice and workdays to get teachers prepared for the new school year. This means a ton of new information gets thrown at you with little time to assimilate and organize it.

Workdays are never long enough to get everything ready for the first day of school and most teachers find themselves already behind before they even start.

However, with a little planning and our organizational tips, you can start the year calm, relaxed, and organized.

Keeping your refrigerator clean and organized isn’t easy with all the use it receives every day. Sticky shelves, crumbs, and food residue can be easily wiped up and taken care of in minutes, making cleaning your refrigerator a simple and easy 15-30 minute task.

Materials: Warm water, dish soap, baking soda, and a microfiber cloth.

Steps:
Mix up 1 teaspoon of dish soap, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and about 4-6 cups of warm water.
Start by emptying your refrigerator. (Work quickly so your food stays cold.)
Wipe down the shelves with a well rung out microfiber cloth or dish cloth. Repeat until all shelves and drawers have been wiped clean. Dry if necessary.

If you don't have a self-cleaning oven, try this eco-friendly solution.

Materials: baking soda, water, plastic gloves, plastic spatula, and a sponge.

Steps: Mix a paste of baking soda and water. Coat the oven surfaces with the paste (avoiding bare metal and heating elements), let stand overnight.
While wearing gloves, use a plastic spatula to remove the paste. Wipe away any remaining residue with a clean, wet sponge.

: Get rid of stubborn odors in your garbage disposal by using ice cubes and lemon wedges. You can even take it a step further and freeze your lemon wedges inside of the ice cubes. Try this trick at least once a month. Myth: Ice cubes will sharpen garbage disposal blades. Truth: Garbage disposals don't typically have sharp blades, but the ice cubes will aid in solidifying any grease/fats that haven't passed through the disposal allowing the disposal to grind and pass them through. additionally, the ice can also be used to knock out debris that may have been trapped under any flaps or hard to reach corners. There is nothing like a fresh kitchen. ✨
