🚨 RACCOON BABY SEASON HAS BEGUN 🚨
We are officially at the start of raccoon baby season here in Texas.
Every year, raccoons find their way into attics in November and December to build nests and prepare for babies. Those babies are typically born in February — May.
👂 What you might hear:
• Heavy scratching or thumping in the attic
• Loud movement at night
• Sounds almost like a person walking above you
Raccoons are nocturnal, so they sleep in your attic all day and leave around 9–10 PM to eat and roam. They almost always return around 4–5 AM.
Once they settle in, they are extremely routine — you’ll often hear them at nearly the same times every night and morning.
🍼 After babies are born:
• You may hear soft chirping or chattering sounds
• The most common time to hear baby noises is early morning when mom returns to feed them
• As babies get older (April -June), you may hear them moving around at night while mom is gone.
⚠️ If you’re hearing large animal noises coming and going, there’s a strong chance you may have raccoons in your attic.
