SUPER SOAKER NEXT WEEK?

I'll be out the next few days, but before I head out I want to raise your awareness about a rather wet weather pattern that looks to be developing next week.

To be perfectly honest, I've never seen anything like this pattern develop in the month of January. A series of Pacific storms will carve out a rain-making machine that could send multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms through Texas for days on end.

Our latest forecast calls for 3-5" of rain to be common Monday through Wednesday (that's manageable), but we're seeing output that's really raising eyebrows because it suggests we could see triple that range (9-15"...not as manageable). In fact, we could be dealing with daily rain into the following weekend.

Now the highest 5-day rain total I can find for Houston in the month of January is 7.44" all the way back in 1891 (yes, 133 years ago).

We've got plenty of time to sort out the details on this one, but I did want to give you a bigger heads up now that the arctic cold snap is over.
