🚹 Sewer Line Inspection Findings | Hibbing Drain Cleaning 🚹

This sewer inspection revealed:
✔ 4" cast iron pipe
✔ 6" clay pipe
⚠ Offset joints
⚠ Partially collapsed clay section

Older clay sewer lines can shift and deteriorate over time, leading to:

* Slow drains
* Recurring backups
* Sewer line problems

A sewer camera inspection helps identify issues before a major failure occurs.

If you’re dealing with recurring drain or sewer problems, it may be time to have your line inspected.

💡 Homeowner Maintenance Tips

Maintenance is the single most important thing we wish every homeowner understood.

Regular maintenance provides several key benefits:
✔ Extends the life of your equipment
✔ Lowers your energy bills
✔ Helps you avoid unexpected and expensive breakdowns

Most equipment failures are not random—there are usually warning signs that go unnoticed. You can make a significant difference by following a few simple steps:

🔧 Check your furnace filter monthly
Dirty filters restrict airflow and reduce efficiency.

🚿 Use hair catchers in shower drains
This helps prevent hair buildup and clogged drains.

🛱 Avoid pouring grease down drains
Grease hardens over time and can lead to serious plumbing issues.

đŸ§» Never flush “flushable” wipes
No matter what the package says, they can cause major sewer line problems.

📅 Schedule professional maintenance once a year
Routine servicing helps catch small problems before they turn into costly repairs.

If you have a technician at your home, don’t hesitate to ask:
👉 “What can I do to prevent this from happening again?”

A good technician will always provide honest advice to help you avoid future repairs.

We’re here to help keep your home comfortable year-round. If you have questions about your system, feel free to reach out!

đŸ”” Employee Spotlight: Amanda

Meet Amanda—our Office Manager and one of the friendly voices behind the scenes at Hibbing Heating & AC

Amanda joined the team in December of 2024, but her connection to the business goes back much further. She and Crystal have been friends since elementary school!

When Amanda was thinking about changing careers, she asked Crystal to be a reference on her resume. Crystal’s response?
“Of course—but why don’t you just come work for us?”

After spending years in the restaurant industry, Amanda wasn’t sure if she was qualified—but she took a leap of faith and accepted the position.

Now?
“This is my dream job—I get to work for amazing people and with the best team.”

Favorite part of the job:
Accounts payable & accounts receivable (she’s always loved accounting—even back in high school!)

But Amanda does much more than just numbers. She helps keep everything running smoothly with:
✔ Scheduling
✔ Checking in deliveries
✔ Managing vendor records
✔ Even helping with marketing

Something homeowners should know:
Not everything has a quick fix.
“If you’re having a drain issue, it’s not as simple as turning it off and back on.”

Her tip for customers:
Schedule routine maintenance for your heating system in the fall and your cooling system in the spring.

Off the clock:
Spending time with family and reading 📚

⚡ Rapid Fire with Amanda:

Coffee or energy drinks?
Iced coffee

Early mornings or late nights?
Neither
but if she has to choose—late nights

Heat or AC?
Definitely AC

Biggest pet peeve on the job?
When customers expect her to know the same things as the technicians

If you’ve talked with Amanda on the phone or she’s helped schedule your service, drop a 📞 in the comments!

đŸ”” Employee Spotlight: Cory

Meet Cory—our full-time drain cleaning tech at Hibbing Drain Cleaning 💧

Cory officially joined the team full-time in January 2026, but he’s been around longer than that—helping out on bigger projects whenever an extra hand was needed.

Before joining us, Cory worked in a variety of roles around the community, including tree services and car detailing. But something kept pulling him back here
so one day, he reached out to Shawn and asked for a job.

After seeing his workmanship on past projects, it was an easy “yes.”

Today, Cory handles mostly drain cleaning and sewer work, but you’ll still find him jumping in on larger jobs when needed.

Most memorable job:
His 3rd day on the job 😅
While cleaning a main line, his tool got stuck in the sewer. Not exactly the start he was hoping for—but when help arrived, the team’s experience and support quickly put him at ease.

With over 40 years of combined experience behind him, he learned fast:
👉 Stuff happens—you figure it out and keep going.

Common homeowner issue:
“Flushable wipes are NOT flushable.”
Most sewer clogs he sees are caused by wipes or tree roots.

Why customers appreciate Cory:
He takes the time to clearly explain what’s going on and how he’s going to fix it—so there are no surprises.

Wildest thing pulled from a drain:
A pair of pants 👖😳

Off the clock:
Hunting, fishing, or riding wheelers.

Favorite spot in town:
The Anytime Fitness parking lot đŸ’Ș

⚡ Rapid Fire with Cory:

Coffee or energy drinks?
Energy drinks

Early mornings or late nights?
Late nights

Heat or AC?

Biggest pet peeve on the job?
Dealing with 3" cleanouts—or no access at all

Meet Wyatt—one of our HVAC technicians helping keep your homes comfortable year-round

Wyatt started helping out on larger projects a couple of years ago and officially joined the team full-time in October 2025.

He completed his training through the Minnesota North HVAC Program at the Hibbing campus in 2025. After high school, he began working as an HVAC apprentice, quickly realizing it was something he wanted to pursue long-term.

You might also recognize Wyatt from around town—he’s previously worked as a grocery bagger and car detailer.

Favorite part of the job:
Every day is different—there’s always something new to learn and figure out.

Most memorable job:
A fuel oil furnace diagnosis he’ll never forget 😅
After asking the homeowner if the furnace had been primed (they said no), he fired it up
and it blew back in his face—covering him in soot with flames shooting out of the furnace.

Thinking the worst, he called Shawn in a panic—but was quickly reassured:
👉 “Let it burn off—it’ll be okay.”
And it was.

Common homeowner issue:
Clogged condensate pumps—something many people don’t realize can cause their furnace to stop working.

Why customers appreciate Wyatt:
He takes the time to explain what’s going on and how he’s going to fix it, so customers feel informed and comfortable.

Tips from Wyatt:
✔ Have your HVAC equipment serviced annually
✔ Don’t flush feminine products

Must-have tool:
His Milwaukee flashlight 🔩

Off the clock:
Hunting, fishing, or working on his truck.

Favorite local spot:
Sportsman’s “they’ve got the best food!”

⚡ Rapid Fire with Wyatt:

Coffee or energy drinks?
Energy drinks

Early mornings or late nights?
Late nights

Heat or AC?

Biggest pet peeve on the job?
When customers watch over your shoulder
 a little too close 😅

Meet Matt—better known around town as SuperMatt đŸ’Ș
Matt has been with us since the very beginning. Back when Shawn was working on projects at Palmer’s, Matt would jump in to help whenever he could. Shawn appreciated his work ethic so much that he asked if he could call him for future jobs
and let’s just say, we haven’t been able to get rid of him since 😄
Matt works in all areas of the business, including HVAC and drain cleaning—and there’s not much he can’t fix.
Favorite part of the job:
Boiler installs.
“Taking something that starts as sheet metal and a bunch of parts, and turning it into a clean, functional system—it’s just awesome to step back and see the finished product.”
Most challenging job:
A large Unico install on Lake Vermilion that required two systems.
Every room had multiple runs that all had to come together perfectly—“like putting together a massive puzzle.”
Common homeowner mistake:
Thinking furnace filters last forever!
👉 Filters should be checked at least once a month.
Why customers love Matt:
He takes the time to explain what’s wrong and how he’s going to fix it—making sure homeowners feel comfortable every step of the way.
Drain cleaning tips from Matt:
✔ Use hair catchers in your shower
✔ Garbage disposals are NOT a compost pile (no grease, no solids!)
Yes
he’s even found bones in one 😳
Must-have tool:
An 8,000-lumen light—because there’s no such thing as “too bright” on the job.
Off the clock:
You’ll find Matt at L&M or at the race track.
⚡ Rapid Fire with Matt:
Coffee or energy drinks?
A Monster every once in a while—otherwise it’s Diet Dr Pepper
Early mornings or late nights?
Late nights
Heat or AC?
Heat
Biggest pet peeve on the job?
Barking dogs đŸ¶
If you’ve worked with Matt before, drop a đŸ’Ș or say “hey SuperMatt!” in the comments!

Our Story | Hibbing Heating & AC

Hibbing Heating & AC was established on January 1, 2014—but our story started long before that.

Not knowing what he wanted to do after high school, Shawn followed a friend into an HVAC program. That decision turned into a career, and 26 years later, he’s still proudly serving the community.

Crystal began her career in accounting in 2005 at a law firm in Hibbing and earned her accounting degree in 2013. She has since spent 10 years as Controller at Seppi Brothers, bringing valuable experience to the business.

When the opportunity to start his own company came along, Shawn jumped in wholeheartedly. Like many small business owners, he learned as he went—leaning on mentors in the community and his now wife and business partner, Crystal. While Shawn focused on serving customers in the field, Crystal managed the business side of operations.

In 2018, they secured their current location and made the decision to stay in Hibbing, drawn by the small-town feel and the loyalty of the community.

In 2020, the company expanded by adding Hibbing Drain Cleaning to better serve local homeowners.

What sets us apart:
“I refuse to sell an inferior product just to get a job. I would rather visit your home to service your equipment than repair it.”

And one thing every homeowner should remember:
👉 Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance.

Routine maintenance helps extend the life of your system, reduce energy costs, and prevent unexpected breakdowns.
