I'm reading the book of Ruth now, and Matthew Henry has some thoughts on Naomi's experience of famine which sent her to Moab:

"Plenty is God's gift, and it is his visitation which by bread,
the staff of life,
holds our souls in life.
Though this mercy be the more striking when it come after famine, yet
if we have constantly enjoyed it,
and never known what famine meant,
we are not to think it the less valuable."

I will admit I've never run with a group of car enthusiasts before in my life, but surely there are few even in that group that get a bigger thrill out of a perfectly clean car.

Kirk works day after day at perfecting his car wash; all he wants is to see customers drive away with some sun glinting off the hood of their cars. That just sends him!

We just celebrated our first year's anniversary, and it has been a rough year! We ran the difficult and scary course of the breast cancer thing; we dealt with terrible family heartaches and horrifying illnesses; moved a home; lost two parents; and struggled to run a big-hearted, honest business in the selfish greed and low work ethic of our current culture. Throughout it all, we prayed. We pray. We will pray.
