We're ending Nurses Week by introducing Celia, our nursing director.

Before joining us, she worked in cardiac ICU. The kind of nursing where seconds matter and the margin for error is zero.

She brings that same level of care and expertise to our team now. A quiet certainty about the work that our families can feel and our team can lean on.

Happy Nurses Week, Celia. Glad you're with us.

Meet Adaugo.

She joined Options as a full-time caregiver while also attending nursing school. From the start, she took on the kind of work that asks more from a caregiver. More skill, more patience, more presence. What most caregivers grow into over years came naturally to her.

In her own words:
"I got into nursing because I love helping people and caring for others when they are sick or going through difficult times. I love that nursing allows me to make a difference in people's lives every day through kindness, support, teaching, and care. Seeing patients feel better, smile, or feel safe because of the care I give makes me happy and gives me purpose. I also enjoy learning new things, working with a team, and building connections with patients and families."

Happy Nurses Week, Adaugo. We're grateful you're still part of the team.

Today Ginny Wilson is officially recognized as a 2026 McKnight's Women of Distinction Rising Star honoree.

Ginny makes other women believe they can lead too. Not because she makes it look easy, but because she makes it look real.

The Triad needs more leaders like her. People who understand that business success and community impact reinforce each other, who execute instead of deliberate, and who measure their effectiveness by the lives they've improved, not the meetings they've attended.

We are so proud!

Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. 10 AM – 2 PM.

If you've got expired prescriptions, half-finished antibiotics, or that bottle of pain meds from a surgery three years ago sitting in the cabinet — this is the day to clear them out. Free, anonymous, no questions asked.

A few reasons it matters more than people think:
• Accidental ingestion (kids, grandkids, pets)
• Fall risk from old sedatives or sleep aids still floating around
• Confusion when expired bottles get mixed in with current meds
• Accumulation that makes medication reconciliation a nightmare at the next hospital visit

If you've ever taken care of a parent, you already know how much of your life it takes and how much of your money.

53 million Americans are caring for a spouse, parent, or loved one right now, mostly unpaid. Almost half end up in credit card debt because of care costs. Medicare doesn't cover most of what they need.

This week, Jered went to Capitol Hill with the Home Care Association of America to push for bipartisan bills that would actually help family caregivers — a $5,000 federal tax credit, and changes to let families use their HSA and FSA dollars for a parent's care.

Met with Representative Richard Hudson's office (who represents both Greensboro and Burlington), Senators Budd and Tillis, and Representatives Harrigan, Foushee, and Ross.

Family caregivers don't usually get a voice in those buildings. Glad we could carry one in.

Hospital discharge is one of the most overwhelming moments for families and one of the least supported.

If you know someone navigating care for an aging parent or loved one, share this with them. We're doing a free lunch session on April 15th in Greensboro covering what actually matters when your loved one comes home from the hospital.

Our team at Options Home Care will be there alongside Caregiver Connect. We're bringing both the pharmacist perspective on medications and the hands-on caregiving resources families actually need to make the transition work at home.

Because medications get shuffled at discharge. And most families don't know what questions to ask. We do.

We wrapped up Q1 of our Options for Others initiative with a casino night and it did not disappoint 🎲

Over the past few months, our focus has been giving back to those facing food and housing insecurity. With the help of incredible volunteers from the aging community, we were able to support Greensboro Urban Ministry and the vital work they do every day.

This event was all about connection, celebration, and shining a light on impact. We had an amazing time networking with great people and recognizing such an important cause.

A huge thank you to Heritage Greens Kisco for hosting us and providing phenomenal food, Ashley Hogan for tracking all the data on each and every initiative’s community impact, and to Cornerstone Caregiving for co-sponsoring and showing what is possible when a community comes together.

And thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, donated food, or came out to celebrate with us. We appreciate all of our friends who champion what we do here at Options Home Care and the impact we are working to make in the community.

This is what collaboration looks like 🤝

A really special example of what it looks like when a community shows up for each other 🤍

Our Options for Others initiative is centered around reaching people who aren’t always supported through our everyday services.

While our day-to-day work focuses on the aging community, this was an opportunity to step outside of that and meet a different, very real need.

This quarter, we partnered with Greensboro Urban Ministry to support their food pantry and help with meal services at Weaver House, serving individuals experiencing homelessness. Greensboro Urban Ministry does so much more than what can be seen in a single day. They consistently show up to meet ongoing needs in our community, and we are so grateful to come alongside an organization that gives so much of themselves every single day.

There are so many ways to get involved and make an impact, whether that’s donating to the food pantry, volunteering your time, or simply taking the time to learn about the services and events available in our community. They are always in need of support, and every effort truly makes a difference.

A reminder we’re taking with us moving forward: love your neighbor.
