✊🏿 Black History & Laundry 🫧
Did you know that not only have African Americans have played a BIG role in the making of the USA, but also in the history of laundry, clothing, and household innovations? That’s right, laundry isn’t just about fresh socks and fluffy towels;l. It's got a whole history of brilliance behind it!
👚 The OG Laundry Bosses (out if necessity)- In the late 1800s, many Black women gained financial independence by running their own laundry businesses. They didn’t just clean clothes, they built communities, created jobs, and turned laundry into a power move!
🧘🏾Ellen Eglin’s Game-Changer – Ever used a clothes wringer? You can thank Ellen Eglin, an African American inventor who designed a hand-cranked version to make drying clothes easier. Sadly, she had to sell her idea because, as a Black woman, she wasn’t taken seriously in business.
So next time you trust your laundry with me, of course! 😉, remember, you’re part of a legacy of innovation, hard work, and fresh, clean greatness!
