Her Aunt Mary, owner of one of the first gas stations to serve food in the area (now known as convenience stores!), recommended a plumber in Washingtonville, NY who was having a “Pool School”. nd, Harold, and father, Charles Nelson, were both handy and had some construction experience so they built the pool with the help of a local excavator, Charles Valkmer. When neighbors saw the beautiful job that they had done, the Chaffee’s were asked to build a pool for friend after friend and neighbor after neighbor. With the amount of requests they had received, Harold and Mary decided to go into the pool construction business full time. Many of the pools they had built in the 1960s are still in use today. For almost 50 years, Chaffee’s Pools have perfected their craft and are on the cutting edge of the Swimming Pool Industry. You will still find Harold working on every job and Mary managing the pool store and office. Harold and Mary’s son, Charlie, President of Chaffee’s Pools since 1995, adds a new dimension to this long time, locally family owned and operated company. Harold’s work ethic is the backbone of the company he and his wife started in 1967 which continues today with Charlie.
