I want to give a little background info on my experiences. Some of you are aware of some of it and most probably not. My contracting experience starts with a stint for a few years in northern Vermont, I lived there for a few years. Was like New Hampshire in most ways except higher taxes 🙄😳 I would not move back there. Started with a spray foam contractor. My job was primarily about prepping the jobs for the sprayer and I got good at it. 3 times I left only to be asked to come back but after the third was on a as needed basis. This field you either love it (not) or its good pay.
I did it because I got good at knowing how the job should be done. But you can burn out after a while. I did some time with roofing contractors. 3 different businesses. Learned the basics for asphalt shingles. I worked for a building contractor and did almost everything residential with him. Everything except the kitchen sink 😂 ok no kitchen work but did a few bathrooms together. The floors, Sheetrock the walls and ceilings, the shower areas, learned tile from him. I learned basic framing from him. Measurements and fractions. are still not my strong suit but I learned to deal with it. I learned Sheetrock but unless it’s patchwork mudding, I don’t do large mudding. I learned how to install windows. Not hard. Flooring kind of. Painting is not bad but not my favorite. Depending on the size and type, could probably do doors. I can do insulation work. Easy enough. As many of you know, I’ve done more than my share of clean outs. I love a good demo job. I have had my share of the nasty messy old school houses that were built with cement layer walls over slats and blown in insulation. Dirty job but someone has to do it lol and just recently started offering tree work. Everything from brush up to 5” in diameter. I also to hedge trimming. I have discovered since being a teenager, I really don’t like lawn care. I don’t hate it, just don’t care for it. Too monotonous for me. Boring!!!! I occasionally do w**d whacking. Weeding is no one’s favorite but I don’t mind it. And I don’t mind mulch work. I actually enjoy spring and fall clean ups with a leaf blower. Kind of feel’s full filling. But not everyone likes leaf blower and I have to respect that. I have had a handful of small jobs picking up and delivering furniture. I go the extra distance for folds and bring it in and pull out of cardboard if requested. Or sometimes it’s been delivered and have to assemble it. I have discovered some interesting challenges but I’ve met those challenges. I’m always seeking new ways of providing for my clients. Always researching. The newest thing will be with insulation. I technically don’t offer odd jobs any more and haven’t in the past year but of course I don’t turn it down. Since 2025 I have been focusing more on removal and demo, tree work and now insulation. I can provide transportation for easy items for folks. Do you need help with pick up and delivery, or moving lawn equipment around, give us a call. I will continue to post here, i have a new page, The Insulators. I have not posted anything there yet but hope to soon. Well hopefully you stayed awake through this long winded book i just wrote 😂 so that will be all for now. Stay dry, warm safe and until next time
