The compressed solids from the biogas plant subsequently land in the composting plant. The decisive advantage for composting is that they are considerably less odorous than untreated plant material. The liquid residue remaining after the production of biogas is first stored in digestate storage tanks before being used as liquid in – an ecologically viable alternative to artificial fertilizer. The produced during fermentation is transferred to a combined heat and power plant and subsequently fed into the local grid in the form of electricity.
