Here’s a cluster of box elder bugs i saw today. As you can see in the pics, they used the crack/gap between the siding and brick to overwinter. I was able to apply a residual dust insecticide in the crevice and treat the ones on the surface to assist this homeowner.

Fortunately, for this customer, they emerged outside and not inside. This is why it’s important to inspect around doors, windows, siding, chimney, etc… to make sure cracks and gaps are sealed. Once they‘ve gained entry and overwintered, they will emerge when the weather gets warmer. So take the time to checkout these areas and caulk or seal up entry points to prevent future pest issues.
