This floor had been redone not too long ago, but the homeowner was already having spots lifting and moving. Once we got into it, we found plywood had been used to try to build up the low areas instead of properly leveling the subfloor.

We tore it all back out, replaced the plywood where needed, self-leveled the floor to get a solid, flat surface, and installed the new flooring the right way.

A new floor is only as good as the prep underneath it. We don’t believe in covering up problems and hoping for the best — we fix what’s underneath first and do it right.

This floor wasn’t supposed to look brand new… and that was the whole point.

These old pine floors were cupped pretty bad. We could’ve kept sanding until all the low spots disappeared, but that would’ve meant removing a lot of good wood just to chase perfection.

We decided to preserve the floor instead.

We sanded it enough to make it smooth, flat where it needed to be, and ready for a fresh finish, while leaving the character that only a floor this old can have. Then we sealed it with two coats of polyurethane.

Every knot, every saw mark, every low spot that’s left tells part of this home’s story. We didn’t try to erase its history—we just gave it a new chapter.

I’d take a floor with this much character over a brand new one any day. What do y’all think? 👇
