I avoid using bleach as much as possible. Here are the reasons why I don’t like to use it:

It is very toxic to humans and animals. Animals have a stronger sense of smell than humans. So, keep this in mind.

It smells terrible.

It is a liability. If it spills or drips onto surfaces like carpet or countertops, it damages them.

Bleach can whiten toilet bowls for example, but over time it can ruin the finish making it porous. This can cause mold to get into the porous areas.

It does not clean. It whitens and disinfects.

I use Lysol cleaner to clean and disinfect surfaces. I combine Lysol with a couple of other products to make my own multi-surface cleaner.

Many cleaning techs use vinegar. Vinegar can damage some surfaces. It can cause damage to wood floors and stone surfaces for example.

I use diluted vinegar on occasion, when it is safe to do so.

If bleach is used to clean a bathroom, and that bathroom does not provide enough ventilation, a cleaning tech can be overcome by those fumes.
