I recently had my first appointment with my neurologist at Mass General Brigham in Dover. We went over everything that's happened since my stroke, talked about my Fibromuscular Dysplasia (FMD), and discussed what the next steps are going to look like.
Unfortunately, there are still some unanswered questions, which means more testing is in my future. My neurologist wants to do some additional blood work, MRIs, and ultrasounds to get a better picture of what's going on and rule out a few other conditions, including MS, although he doesn't believe that's what we're dealing with.
I'll also be heading into Boston for two days of specialized testing, including a Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound, which will look at the blood flow through the arteries in my brain.
On the positive side, my vision has improved, and my neurologist feels I'm on the right medications. He also explained that my risk of having another stroke decreases as more time passes, which was definitely reassuring to hear!
For now, it's all about continuing to heal, building my strength back up, and learning not to push myself too hard. Anyone who knows me knows that sitting still and taking it easy isn't exactly my strong suit! 😂
I'm thankful for how far I've come, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't ready to put all these appointments and tests behind me. I'm just hoping we can get some more answers so I can keep moving forward and eventually get back to doing what I love. ❤️
And lastly, I just want to say THANK YOU!
To my family, friends, clients, and everyone who has checked in, sent prayers, shared encouraging words, or simply followed along with my recovery. Your love and support have meant more to me than you'll ever know.
I miss my clients, my business, and the routine I worked so hard to build. I can't wait for the day I can get back out there doing what I love. Until then, I'm going to keep putting in the work and celebrating every little victory along the way.
I'm not where I want to be just yet, but I'm a whole lot further than where I started! 💪❤️
