This nonprofit was formed to maintain and improve a 1895 Texas Historic Collinsworth Family Cemetery (.22 acres) established during a smallpox epidemic. The city of Plano considered the cemetery abandoned as late as 2002. This is not a city owned cemetery. Since that time due to the efforts of a few descendant

s, the surrounding HOA, service organizations (Boy Scouts, Garden Clubs) improvements to the cemetery as a whole have been made. This corporation is continuing these efforts in a formal manner, with the primary activity being maintenance such as mowing, trimming, pest control. A secondary activity will be the preservation, stabilization, and cleaning of the remaining stones as a whole, followed by plantings and the extension of an existing gravel path. The marker project is for the cemetery as a whole and should be repeated for decades. This inactive cemetery will never be operated for profit, will never be sold, or have any stock. There are under ten stones remaining of an estimated 25. CFCA is a non profit 501©13 charitable corporation. Effective June 26, 2014 CFCA received IRS Contribution Deductibility ID 31954. All contributions received by CFCA are for the historical cemetery as a whole No goods or services are exchanged in connection with donations.

A LETTER TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF THE COLLINSWORTH FAMILY CEMETERY IN PLANO, TX

April 23, 2015

Collinsworth Family Cemetery Association
In care of Charlotte A Johnson
446 Trinity Drive
Allen, TX 75002

Dear Family & Friends of the Collinsworth Family Cemetery, Plano, Collin County, TX:

Do you ever wonder where the money comes from to clean up the Cemetery? Today, it doesn't come from the government, city, or organizational funds. It usually comes from an Association like ours. Every year funds are required to landscape, maintain, and improve the cemetery. Our Association’s first meeting was held March 8th, 2014 to celebrate the organizations and individuals that have been so generous with their time and money in past years. Many of us were there.

Since that time, our Association was designated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity. The Board of Directors has met three times. So much has been accomplished! The most exciting news is every stone marker in the cemetery has been stabilized, restored, and cleaned by professionals. Cement pads were placed under the two benches, and a memorial was designed and placed there for buried in unmarked graves.

Recently, we had to cut down a few large trees that could not be saved. One of the trees in the alley, near electrical wires, was trimmed along with other overgrown trees, infringing on a neighbors' property. A master plan was formulated for new plants/trees to replace those lost. Nine large trees were purchased, then strategically planted. An irrigation system was installed for the trees.

We did not solicit donations during 2014, but are asking for your help with our next project, placing flagstones in our existing path. We are also seeking boy or girl scout troops to place the stones. You can be a part of this project by making a donation online, or by mailing your check made out to "Collinsworth Family Cemetery Association", at the address above.

This link (see APPS to your left) www.facebook.com/DonationsforCollinsworthFamilyCemeteryPlanoTX is to “Donate Here”, on our new donation page. The link is also located at the beginning of this page under “About”. 100% of donated funds will be used to improve the cemetery. Please give me a call at 469-675-1316 if you'd like additional information about the Association, its mission, or the Donation process.

We are a registered 501 (c)(13) charity. All donations are tax deductible, and will be used for the cemetery as a whole. Additional information about our next project will be in my next post. Your donations, no matter how small, will help make this project a reality. Betty Fulbright has made the first donation to get us started!

Sincerely,
Charlotte Carpenter Johnson
Secretary/Treasurer of the Collinsworth Family Cemetery Association.

2014 - 2016 Board of Directors: Kathy Nelson, President; Betty Fulbright, Vice President; Debra Kitchens, Vice President, Candace Fountoulakis, Consultant/Facilitator, & Charlotte C Johnson, Secretary/Treasurer.
