Countywide Sanitation Service (CWSS) Q & A for our valued customers:
What is acceptable household garbage?
Solid household waste consists of many items or products we use each day and throw away, like product packaging, food scraps, bottles, paper, batteries, cardboard boxes - broken down and more. Liquid household waste includes kitchen cleaners, floor cleaning products, liquid laundry soap and detergent, cooking grease, and personal care products. We prefer that garbage is bagged for sanitary reasons but it is not required.
What is unacceptable garbage?
Yard clippings, dirt or sod, rocks, concrete, toxic materials, highly flammable materials, construction & remodeling debris will not be accepted.
What are trash pick up times?
Trash should be out by 7am for pick up between 7am-7pm. If the routes are delayed due to road hazards, inclement weather, mechanical issues or other delays, we will notify you by email or text as soon as we are aware. If you do not have an email address or phone number on file, please call the office to provide us with valid contact information.
How do I take care of my garbage container provided by CWSS?
Homeowners are responsible for normal care, cleaning, and lost or stolen containers. To help reduce odor and maintain the containers cleanliness, bagging all waste is strongly suggested but not required.
What is considered bulk trash?
Bulk trash includes furniture, boxes, general household debris, yard clippings, leaves, trees and shrubs (cut in lengths no longer than 5 feet). If you have any of these types of bulk trash, it will not be picked up unless advance arrangements have been made with the office.
Are there any additional fees for bulk trash?
Please call CWSS at 972-486-3867 for information on bulk pick ups or to schedule the service.
Does CWSS pick up dead animals?
No, we do not. Please make other arrangements for removal of dead animals.
