I want to share something honestly, and I hope it lands the way it is intended.
This business was built on relationships. We make arrangements, we open our books and give up days we would otherwise be closed, all to accommodate the people who trust us. Especially our PCS families and military community who are often working around timelines that simply cannot wait. That comes from a genuine place and it always will.
However, it worth noting that we are currently sitting at nearly $4,000 in open invoices. Most are due a week or more.
In one hand, I feel maybe it should be unnanounced because it shows that we are growing, in another - I feel like sharing parts of the business that may not be so pretty shows that behind a logo, and a website, there is a human working reallly hard to just take care of her people.
These open invoices are for the last 2 weeks with both residential and commercial clients. While commercial clients have a pay schedule they follow, our residential clients are aware from the get go that pay is due on receipt.
It is our residential clients, the ones we pour the most heart into, that more often leave invoices unfulfilled. And to our move out clients specifically, just because you have moved out does not mean your invoice has too.
I think what most do not realized is that our business runs on professional systems that track every communication we send. We can see when it is delivered, when you open them and whether something has been read. I get that life happens, because I also have been in that season of life.
We share that not as a threat but as a simple truth. We see it. And we are choosing grace over urgency every single time, we just ask for the courtesy of a response in return.
If you are in a hard season, please reach out because we want to help if given the opportunity. We have quietly worked out arrangements more times than most people know. The last thing we ever want is for an unnecessary demand to have these taken care off. We want to take care of our people. Truly. But we cannot help what we do not know.
If something about your experience was not right, and that could be the reason you are hesitant to pay your invoice, tell us. We have never once been unwilling to come back and make it right when someone gave us the chance to.
While I always joked that jumping into business is the best way to learn, this is now a lesson that makes it harder for others in the future. Going forward all new clients are required to keep a card on file. It is a small step that protects everyone and keeps the process simple for the clients who have always shown up for us the way we show up for them.
We love this work. We love the people we do it for. And we are always just a message away. What we don't love is silence when an open communication is offered.
Thank you for reading.
