The Scoop on Organic VS Non-Organic stains… what the differences are and what to do about it:

Organic staining is natural staining usually caused by lack of sun and moisture; Think mildew, algae, and black mold being the culprits here. (See vinyl siding before and after).

Non-Organic staining may contain man made accidents such as oil spills, over-sprayed paints on decks/ shutters, and red clay splashed up by rain to name a few.(See brick steps and driveway before and after photos for reference).

Unfortunately, Non-Organic stains make Organic cleaners either useless or very hard to remove.

Does your home have oxidation issues?

Here is the dirty truth:

• Oxidation is damage caused by the sun on vinyl siding with a mix of dirt and grime.

What does it look like? (See Photo)

• It can be identified by rubbing your hand on the siding and if “chalk” is visible then oxidation is present.

Why should I care, can’t we just pressure wash it?

• No, it cannot be pressure washed. This will only make it worse.

Now what do I do?

• It has to be removed by a specific chemical (expensive) which is usually brushed on and then rinsed off- seek a licensed pressure washer for proper guidance and steps.

What can I do going forward or to prevent this from happening?

• Oxidation removal is expensive and time consuming to treat. It is important to have your home cleaned every 1-3 years. Be proactive and schedule regular maintenance.
