WHAT’S HIDING IN YOUR SEWER LINE?
This sketch shows a real type of sewer problem we run into in older homes around Central Ohio.
On this job, we accessed the sewer through the house stack cleanout and ran our hydro jetting equipment underneath the garage toward the main sewer line.
The problem? 👇
We found an older 6-inch clay yard trap that was packed with debris, restricting the flow of the sewer.
Using high-pressure water, we were able to hydro jet the line and blow the debris out of the yard trap, restoring flow without tearing up the garage floor just to reach the blockage.
🔎 What is a yard trap?
Older sewer systems sometimes have underground traps installed between the house and the public sewer. Over the years, these traps can collect debris, grease, roots, scale and other buildup.
Because they’re underground, homeowners often don’t even know they’re there—until the sewer starts backing up or draining slowly.
💦 Why hydro jetting?
Hydro jetting doesn’t just poke a hole through a blockage. High-pressure water travels through the sewer line and helps remove buildup and debris from the pipe.
In this case:

✅ Hydro jetted underneath the garage
✅ Located the 6” clay yard trap
✅ Cleared the accumulated debris
✅ Restored sewer flow
