Every once in a while, life has a way of bringing things full circle, and today was one of those days. ❤️
A few weeks ago, I had a client reach out through Laundry+Labels looking for help organizing her basement. She wanted to go through some sentimental photos, old yearbooks, and Christmas decorations. We scheduled a day and time, and I happened to look at her profile. Something about her looked SO familiar, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
After a little Facebook snooping (which, let's be honest, I think we all do when inviting someone into our homes 😂), I came across a comment mentioning her mom had been a teacher. Suddenly, it clicked!
I reached back out and asked if she was a teacher and if her mom had also been a teacher. And wouldn't you know it... her mom was my FIRST GRADE TEACHER!
Miss Sanford was such a special part of my childhood. Unfortunately, she passed away from breast cancer, but she is someone I will always remember and be grateful to have had in my life.
Today, I got to spend time with her daughter, Bianca, going through old photographs and yearbooks, seeing pictures of her mom, and hearing little pieces of her story. She even let me take a picture of one of her mom's photos.
I'm honestly still a little in awe that neither of us cried. 🥹
Can you imagine? All these years later, I get to walk into the home of the daughter of someone who made such a lasting impact on my childhood, and my job is to help her sort through and preserve those memories.
This is one of those moments that reminds me that Laundry+Labels is about so much more than laundry, cleaning, or organizing. It's about people, their homes, their stories, and sometimes the unexpected connections along the way.
What a special full-circle moment. ❤️
