There are a lot of window cleaning companies to choose from, how do you know which one to hire? Here are some tips, which our company can proudly say we abide by:
Find a company with an Idaho license. Licensing for window cleaning isn't mandatory by the state in Idaho. It isn't mandatory but very easy to achieve.
It's so easy to get one, there's only a couple reasons a person wouldn't apply for the license.
1. If they are not planning on having insurance. In order to carry Liability insurance (protecting you the customer) the company has to have a license. Without this insurance the home owner is liable for any accidents or damage.
2. If they aren't running their business legitimately, it means they are hiding the revenue they make from the IRS. This isn't fair to the other companies that are paying their share of taxes and it also hurts you the consumer. Just like Insurance fraud, this causes the legit companies to raise their prices to make up the slack, which is passed on to you. It also brings less $ in to the state causing you the consumer to pay more taxes for schools, roads and such.
If a company isn't paying their taxes, it means they are most likely paying their employees under the table. This creates more problems for everyone. There is no workmanscomp being collected. If an employee hurts themselves on your property, you the home owner will be responsible for the medical bills and possible law suit.
There are many more problems I didn't mention. Just do yourself a favor and make sure the company you hire to do any work on your property is licensed and insured. Ask to see the papers.
Enjoy the rest of your Summer!!
