An update addressing RERUN, AI & Environmental Responsibility:
OK, friends, you’re right to point out that AI has an environmental cost. I am not pretending otherwise. I’m also not interested in blindly defending AI—or declaring that anyone concerned about the environment has to reject it completely.
I’m trying to use it deliberately, question unnecessary use, put people before technology, and ask whether what we create justifies what we consume. Since RERUN is asking people to rethink our relationship with consumption, waste, technology, and the Earth, it’s completely fair to ask me to examine my own choices too.
RERUN is meant to be a people-powered movement. Technology should never replace community, local knowledge, creativity, relationships, artists, organizers, volunteers, friends, and neighbors. When another human being can make the work richer, stronger, more local, or more connected, I want them involved.
So, if you see a contradiction or think we can do better, I genuinely want to hear it—and I’d absolutely love your help. Bring your expertise, an alternative, a connection, or an idea. Better yet, get involved. Become part of the herd. Criticism doesn’t have to end the conversation. It can be the beginning of better action.
We live in a technological civilization. The challenge is not to give technology a free pass. It is to push our civilization away from extraction and toward regeneration. Thanks for keeping me accountable.
