I'm really excited to be doing a decluttering job in Bloomington IL around April 20-21. If you are in that general area, or in Chicagoland, or anywhere roughly on the way from Madison to Bloomington or Chicagoland and interested in having me help with something like that, let me know and we can figure out schedules and whatnot.

Decluttering and organizing work is something I really love doing because I know how much it helps the other person. It's also one of the ways I can help catch up on my various expenses and get ahead, so I'm definitely hopeful I can get a few more gigs in the near future.

I'm also still looking for potential gigs on the way to or from Baltimore, or in the general area within an hour or two of Baltimore. I'm setting up my booth May 3, vending May 4-5, and could do some half-day jobs or full-day jobs on the weekdays before/after that, depending on whether or not I have evening obligations.

If I could get a decluttering gig somewhere in Ohio on the way to/from that would be an amazing way to split up that trip since I may be driving it alone.

Greetings! I am currently open to bookings starting in April 2024 for either local to Madison, WI jobs, or for travel engagements.

I will be traveling to Baltimore in early May, and to central New York state in late June, and I'm starting to book a few clients for jobs along the way there and back. If you're somewhere between Wisconsin and either NY or Baltimore and interested in hiring me, let me know and perhaps we can make the timing work out.

I'll be in Chicago and the Minneapolis area several times this year as well.

Feel free to message me if you'd like to talk details on how I might be able to be of help.

Here's a pic of some of my art supply storage. I love those little drawers so much!

This is a totally viable method. I am grateful to have a term to use with my decluttering clients for this. Generally when I am helping them, they have been stuck trying to Roomba clean but not making enough progress, so I help jump start things by targeting specific areas, and then their Roomba cleaning is much more effective.

For instance, if we empty out a whole closet and get rid of a bunch of stuff, and then clear out a bunch of things on the kitchen table, the couch, and make some space in the living room so that there are places for things to go, then it's a lot easier to Roomba with less task overload.

Part of task overload comes when there are too many dependent tasks; you want to make dinner, but first you have to clean off the kitchen counters, which means you have to do dishes, but first you have to do A, B, C, etc. it's too much so you never get to make dinner.

I realized I haven't posted on this page a whole lot. Over the past year I've mostly only been working with existing clients who are fully vaccinated where we are comfortable with our mutual Covid safety protocols. I'm slowly starting to open up to work with new clients again. I'm still trying to be very careful both to protect my clients, and to protect myself as I have autoimmune issues. If you're interested in scheduling something with me, please do feel free to message me and we can see if our schedules work out.

I'm grateful I was able to recently help a couple of clients who needed immediate assistance. One needed help sorting through a lot of emotionally intense paperwork in order to deal with a legal issue, and the other needed to clear out an entire apartment. I'm always glad when I can help make a complicated situation feasible when someone has hit total overload, and I know that so many folks right now are unfortunately in that position.

I hope that folks are doing well, or at least, as well as can be as the pandemic goes on. In some of the various online groups I'm a member of, I've seen people starting to post about how the quarantine/isolation/working from home, and general trauma/mental fatigue, is making it harder for them to keep up on things.

What I want to say is, you're not alone. Brain fog, fatigue, and overwhelm are all common symptoms of trauma, and that's what many of us are dealing with.

I am open to offering some online support services if that is of help to anyone looking for assistance. I know that vaccines are rolling out but it's taking time, and I know that sometimes it can just help to process out what you're dealing with and have someone on hand to talk through it. I've helped people with really short consultations--like a five minute FB chat or phone call to help them get through just one task that they've been procrastinating, like dealing with a bill or emailing someone.

And I've also helped people work through going through all of their stuff to prepare for a move and strategize the storage solutions to use going forward.

Feel free to message me if you want to talk about what kind of support you need and we can figure out a fee structure that works, depending on if you just want chat support, phone calls, video calls, etc. If it's just one task of 5-10 minutes, my "One Task" service is $5.

I wish you all health and safety.

I haven't posted here in a while because I'm not currently doing any in-person decluttering work; not until it's safe to do so.. However, I saw this meme and thought, this is often the point in the process when people hire me, when they are getting totally overloaded by all of the "side quests" in trying to declutter.

I am hopeful that I will be able to offer in-person services in the early spring or summer once vaccines are more widely available. If you've spent your Covid quarantine months frustrated that you still can't get things organized even when you're cooped up at home, we can talk about planning a future visit.

This is usually the part where people hire me LOL! Seriously though, the world is pretty complicated right now, and a lot of people are dealing with elevated anxiety. The below meme offers a solid overview of challenges with executive function (ie, the ability to decide to do a thing and then go do it). When we're stressed out or our anxiety is triggered, this can mess with our ability to complete a task. So, if you've found yourselves to be more easily distracted, if you have a hard time focusing, if you have brain fog...it's pretty normal to be experiencing all of that when you're stressed. So, take a breath, and cut yourself some slack. :)

I have talked to a lot of folks frustrated these past weeks that they are finally having the time (and the need) to declutter their space, but all the thrift stores where they could donate items are closed. I just saw that the Goodwill stores near where I live (Madison, Wisconsin) are able to receive donations again. If you have things you want to donate to make some room while you're stuck at home, it's worth checking in to see if any of the thrift shops near you are accepting donations again.

I know that Madison will also be reopening the facilities to receive e-waste, TVs, and other kinds of waste.

I hope this is of help to some of you! :)

Greetings all, I know that we are all dealing with a lot in the current pandemic. I've heard from some folks that are quarantined at home, and are trying to get their place organized so that it's comfortable to be in, but it's a struggle for them even with having time at home.

I wish you all the very best in this time. If it would help to have some support with any organizing work you're doing while you're quarantined, feel free to post here and I'll do what I can.

My current project is working on a bunch of paintings and jewelry that have been sitting around. The clutter is bugging me and I want to get these projects done so I can move on to other work. It's been slow going but I'm making progress.

Basically, this is why people hire me. LOL

I have plenty of openings in my schedule for the next weeks, so feel free to message me if you'd like to get started with an in person project or with some distance support via phone or video.

This is an excellent overview of the kind of work I do with my clients. I try to look at the patterns of where stuff gets piled and backtrack what's going on. Usually it's a combo of things, and "too much stuff" is only one of those. The issue is often not enough of the right storage space, as well as too many tasks in the way.

While not all my clients have ADHD, almost all of my clients struggle with issues of executive dysfunction, which is what this Twitter thread alludes to. When there are too many mini tasks in the way of taking off a coat and shoes, or anything like that, the task is likely to be left undone and stuff is in a pile, or things get lost because they don't have a consistent place.

If you need help processing through things like this but aren't able to hire me for on-site work, I can probably work with you via phone or video chat. I can help you get some systems in place that work for you.
