Another day, another dive repair.
Tracking down leaks and patching vinyl pools one hole at a time. Sometimes it’s a quick fix… sometimes it turns into an underwater scavenger hunt. Either way, getting these pools sealed up and saving liners from replacement is always satisfying.

Little indoor hotel job we got called out on.

This pool has had 6 different contractors over the past several years trying to figure it out. Jets were shooting air, the pump could barely prime, new pumps had been installed, and lines were capped off. The general consensus was that it had to be bad plumbing pulling in air from somewhere.

Turns out that wasn’t the case.

We tracked it down to a golf ball, a rock, and a plug lodged right in the plumbing reductions in the equipment room.

After clearing it out, the entire system came back to life.

Pump primes like it should
Filtration system running strong
No more air coming out of the jets

Sometimes it’s not a major failure, just something nobody thought to look for.

Another one solved.

Homeowner had me track down and patch a bunch of small leaks.

To date, this is the smallest leak I’ve ever had to track down. The pool was losing approximately 1/16 inch per day on an indoor pool with an auto cover, so there was no evaporation to account for the loss. The customer stated it would take several weeks for the water level to drop to the bottom of the skimmer, where it would then stop. A full evaluation of the skimmer and plumbing showed no water loss. After inspecting the perimeter of the liner, a very small puncture was located as the source of the issue.

The leak was found on the border of the liner, perfectly level with the bottom of the skimmer. Situations like this show that leaks are not always cut and dry or exactly where you expect them to be.

Located a failed hydrostatic relief valve during inspection, with this large frog hanging out nearby. 🐸

Valve was replaced and the pool is now properly protected from groundwater pressure.

Jeremiah the pool frog is happy to have a leak-free environment.

Another issue found and resolved beneath the surface.

Rain outside, leak inside.
Indoor pool with a small weekly water loss — subtle, but still costing water, chemicals, and money over time. The smallest leaks are often the toughest to find.
