A spring cleaning rescue! These 24 taps were terribly neglected with all two dozen faucets caked to the gills with crud. I may sound like a broken record but biweekly cleanings of lines AND faucets are essential (and required by law) for a reason. Even if you have a company on schedule like they did, it’s always worth it to make sure they’re doing what you pay them for

Just another reason to stay away from companies that say you only need monthly cleanings. Aside from the law being biweekly, this is what it gets you. To be fair, they were also using underperforming methods for the length of the system. Just cutting corners everywhere they could find. Luckily this bar is all caught up now and back on the right track!

Todays before and afters. With a competitor recently retiring, I’ve been seeing too much of this. If your faucets look like this, they are 100% not getting cleaned. I don’t care what your current service is telling you. This is not normal buildup between visits. These internals were among the worst I’ve seen and every beer that’s been poured through them has touched this funk on the way to the glass. The state requires cleanings for a reason, don’t skimp on it. It’s bad for your system, and your guests

Friendly reminder not all cleaning services are the same. Potential customer reached out claiming they were wasting a lot of product in foam. One look at the faucets and it was clear why. If your biweekly service isn’t removing and scrubbing your faucets every time, this kind of bacteria, mold and yeast build up is destined to happen. No one wants to drink a beer that has passed through all of that.

This system was installed fresh about 9 months ago and still looks brand new. A testament to proper equipment and maintenance! Biweekly cleanings are Ohio law but also help lengthen the life of your draft system.

Three befores and an after for today. Customers system had not been cleaned in a month according to their log sheet from their previous cleaner but the state of the faucets and run off from my cleaning points to a long standing record or low effort service. The lines were able to be flushed out to squeaky clean but the faucets couldn’t be salvaged so he was hooked up with brand new stainless fixtures. On top of biweekly cleanings being mandatory by state law, for the sake of your customers taste and health, do not skimp on one of your biggest investments behind the bar. No draft system is cheap, protect it!

This is why you bring the right tool for the job. This system is what we call a remote dispense or long draw. Basically when the keg cooler is somewhere other than right underneath the taps. This buildup is from years of trying to clean a long draw with direct draw methods. Lines this long require constant circulation of cleaning solution, something you cannot achieve with a cleaning can, as this technician has been doing. It leads to insufficient exposure to the required caustic cleaner on all parts of the system. This is why I tailor each locations cleaning methods uniquely to their needs. This is not a one size fits all business and these systems are a major investment to bar and restaurant owners. Take whatever steps you can to protect that investment!

It has come to our attention in the last few weeks, from talking to various bar owners, that there is some confusion on this topic. The Ohio Administrative Code section dealing with beer line cleaning and sanitation does say that your lines need to be cleaned every two weeks at minimum. Apparently there is a company who is charging 50-60% more for a once a month service. Please do not be fooled by whatever fancy technology they claim to have. No matter what their methods, it still needs done every two weeks.

The risk of citation also falls on the business if you were to get inspected, no matter what your cleaning company told you.

We pride ourselves on clear communication and personal service. If you need anything, you know exactly who will come out to help and we won’t sell you the false bill of goods as I have come to find out now that others will. It’s a shame and very unfortunate, but that’s what we are here for, to be the local, sensible option.

If you have any questions about the current state of your system and the service you have been getting elsewhere, do not hesitate to call!
