Clean a TOP load washing machine to prevent dirty, musty-smelly laundry.

Top Load: Cleaning your top loading washing machine is simple, all you need is white vinegar and some cleaning cloths.

• Start by setting your washer to its hottest temperature, highest capacity and longest cycle.
• Add four cups of white vinegar to the hot water, close the lid and allow it to agitate for several minutes.
• Open the lid (so the machine stops) and allow it to sit for an hour so that the vinegar can do its job to get rid of the bacteria hiding in all those nooks and crannies and the hoses of your machine. Then let the cycle complete.
• Wipe down all surfaces inside, including the detergent and fabric softener compartments, with a damp Enviro cloth.

Earlier today we provided instructions for how to clean a musty-smelling front load washing machine. The next step? Cleaning the rubber seal. The rubber seal on the door is a perfect hiding place for mold and mildew. Carefully pull back the gasket and inspect to see if you have mold, mildew or socks. Carefully wipe down the area with water and Norwex Enviro cloth. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth to prevent any moisture build-up. To eliminate the chance of stinky laundry issues, maintain a clean washer by cleaning the machine inside and out once per month. Final Tip: leave the door open to prevent moisture build-up in between washing loads.

Sometimes, a dirty, moldy-smelling washing machine can lead to dirty, musty-smelling laundry. To keep your front load machine sparkling clean and fresh-smelling, ensure you clean it once a month.

The best way to clean your front loading washer is simple:
• Select the hot water setting. If your machine does not have a hot water setting, then select a “white” or a “stain” cycle setting.
• Select the “extra rinse” option if your washer has that choice.
• Add ¾ cup of white vinegar to the bleach dispenser or fill to its maximum level.
• Allow the cycle to run until it has completed.
• To ensure that no vinegar remains in your washer, manually select an additional rinse cycle if your washer does not have a 2nd rinse cycle selection.

Follow your manufacturer's instructions for proper care and maintenance.
Our afternoon post is about cleaning the rubber seal; a secret hiding place that leads to a smelly situation.

Do you lay awake at night staring at the ceiling, counting sheep? Your dinner could be the culprit keeping you up at night. Avoid these foods and head off to dreamland!

1. Celery - Celery and other foods with a high water content may cause you to wake up with a full bladder.

2. Tomatoes - Tomatoes are rich in tyramine, an amino acid that triggers the brain to release norepinephrine, a stimulant that boosts brain activity and delays sleep.

3 & 4. Cheese Pizza and Heavy Meals - Foods high in fat and fried foods take longer to digest and can cause discomfort that interferes with sleep.

5. Alcohol - A glass of wine may help you get to sleep, it disrupts sleep later in the night and robs you of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.

6. Black Bean Chili - The body has a hard time digesting beans, so stomach-rumbling gas pains will keep you from a good night’s sleep.

7. Dark Chocolate - Dark chocolate, hot cocoa and tea all contain caffeine, and if you’re caffeine-sensitive, you may find yourself staring at the ceiling instead of snoozing.

8. Candy - Candy may cause your blood sugar levels to spike and then fall rapidly as the body releases insulin to bring them under control.

9. Tacos - Eating tacos and spicy foods within a few hours of lights-out can set you up for a bad case of heartburn and a restless night.

10. Steak - Foods high in protein and marbled fats, such as steak and roast beef, are slow to digest and could lead to a sleepless night.

11. Soft Drinks - Caffeine, that sneak thief of sleep, can turn up in unexpected places, including root beer and lemon-lime soda.

12. Broccoli - Its slow-to-digest fiber will keep your body working hard into the night and could cause painful gas.

Your microfiber cloths can clean up some BIG messes. You might be wondering how can you get your cloths clean. Here are few tips on how to get your microfiber cloths ready for to clean your next mess!

Use Norwex Ultra Power Plus without fillers and bleach for best results.
Launder microfiber cloths with other lint-free laundry and dry completely.
For deep stubborn stains or odors, Norwex microfiber can be boiled for 10 minutes to allow fibers to swell and release the debris.
Do not use bleach, fabric softener or dryer sheets when laundering microfibers as these additives coat the surface of the fibers and reduce the microfiber’s ability to clean effectively.
