A lucky break for this family! Don’t run your dryer if someone isn’t home! It’s not worth the risk.
If you need help maintaining your dryer vent system and evicting that pesky lint, give us a call today!
Do you have any idea how often I start the dryer before I walk out the door to leave ?
We do on average 3-4 loads of laundry a day ...
And thats just how we keep it running for our big family ...
Wash a load , and throw it in the dryer so when we get back home there is a clean load done .
I clean the duct faithfully every month ... all . the . way .
From having a special brush to clean out the dryer front and back , removing the flex duct to clean , cleaning the remaining pipe all the way outside ( thankfully its a straight shot so pretty easy to do ) .
This dryer has lasted way longer than any other we have had ....
No real problems other than lightbulb going out ...
But somewhere along the way a seal or something gave way and started letting lint gather down on the motor ...
I've replaced many parts on previous dryers and have never seen lint anywhere near the motor like this .
Literal blankets sitting on it ...
Tonight it had enough and started burning ...
First assumption was I put something in the dryer I shouldn't have , because it just smelled hot ...
After unplugging it , removing laundry load , checking that lint vents were clear I thought hmmm well thats odd nothing seems out if the ordinary ...
And then the smoke started seeping out ...
Wow ... What the heck...
Threw it out the back door , removed the back as quickly as possible ( gosh darn 10 screws later and it was still attached at the top ) ...
No flames , but it was black and smoke was heavy ...
Someone above was watching out for us ...
I didn't start it before we left this morning. As we walked out the door , I thought oh crap I forgot to start the laundry this morning ...
Who knows what we woulda came home to 🙁
Tonight my heart is so grateful that I didn't start that load this morning .
So grateful it didn't happen after we went to bed , because I often throw a load in at bed time too ...
So grateful we caught it before it was any worse .
