With Thanksgiving being only a week away, now is the perfect time for a little refresh of your food storage spaces. Before you even head out to the store, go through your pantry, back-stock food storage areas, refrigerator, and freezer to see what you already have on hand.

If you are in charge of bringing the green bean casserole, use the green beans that you've had in the back of your pantry before buying more (assuming they have not expired). In charge of macaronni and cheese? Use those elbows noodles that you bought this summer with the intention of making pasta salad, but that never happened. Guilty of this one myself. πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

Now is also a great time to donate any food to your local food bank that you think you will not use. Again, just make sure they have not expired.

Shoutout to those of us who sometimes do laundry Grandma’s way! πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ It has finally gotten cold here, which means the heat is running and this house is DRY!! So, besides running humidifiers, I revert to drying clothes like my grandmother I airdry them.

I love doing this in the summer (especially with sheets) because they make my clothes smell so good! But, you can do this in winter also. I simply use the doorway to hang pants or my husband’s work shirts on hangers and I use wooden drying racks for t-shirts. I place the drying racks over our heat vents and they are dry in no time. This method does a couple of things: it puts humidity back in the house, makes the house smell like fresh laundry, and it saves a little on that electric bill by not running the dryer.

This method isn’t for everyone nor is it something I do all the time. But, today, it fit into my schedule, made me reminisce about my childhood, and frankly, it just felt good to do it. Do what makes you happy, helps you succeed at your tasks, and brings you peace.

A couple of ideas to get you started on your holiday prep. Making lists of menus, gift ideas, to-do tasks can prove very helpful. I use the note section in my phone, anytime I think of something that needs to be done, I put it there. Because let's be honest, our phones are pretty much close by 24/7.

I also use a calendar to map out my to-do lists. I assign each task a day and time and then I have a visual of how everything will get done. I do this for holiday prep and well as in my business with clients when we have huge projects such a moving deadline. It helps with stress seeing a mapped out plan to our final destination.

MOST IMPORTANTLY!! This is real life folks, not a staged social media post. So, give yourself some grace. Do the best that you can and know that it is good enough. This is the time to enjoy your family and friends, not be so stressed-out in preparation that you miss the most important parts. The love that surrounds you. Now, let's make space for the things you love...
