Towel Management - We may not give much consideration to towels. That could be a fatal mistake when it comes to your vehicle. They can be a source of paint scratches and swirl marks. They may leave streaks in glass.

Towels pick up and hold debris, grit, grease, and other matter. They may not release all the dirt and polish when washed. Towels get old and crusty as well. One part of the towel management system at Red Clay Detailing is towel assignments. Towels are “color-coded” and assigned to certain tasks. One group is the exterior. There is a drying towels, a towel for paint, and one for wheels. They are never mixed and used for any other tasks.

How thick is it? Measuring car paint before a paint correction is an important step. It can uncover repainted surfaces. A paint thickness gauge reads the total paint system on the panel: primer/color/clear. Its help you determine how to proceed with buffing. It can let one know buffing is not safe; the paint is too thin.

Wash Down. The mobile bathrooms are very active during the spring and summer months. They may sit at one location for extended periods. The spa was due for an exterior wash and protection.

Mud? Not quite. Red clay was tracked into the car. Fortunately it was in a small area.
Red clay when left too long dries and creates a strong bond with a surface. Get on it quickly so it doesn’t stain. This is very important with light carpet and fabric.
The clay was cleaned with little effort. It had dried and came up by brushing and vacuuming.
After that, the area was sprayed with carpet cleaner to break loose the clay down in the carpet fibers.
