Almost everyone washes their sheets. Almost nobody is sure about everything else on the bed. Here is the whole schedule in one place.
Sheets and pillowcases, every week. You spend roughly a third of your life against them, and they collect body oil, sweat and dead skin faster than anything else you own. Two weeks is the absolute outside limit, and less often in summer.
Duvet cover, every two weeks. It is the layer touching you all night, so treat it closer to sheets than to the comforter inside it. Blankets and throws, every four to six weeks, more often if pets or kids are involved, which they always are.
The mattress protector is the one people forget entirely. Every two months. It is doing the actual job of protecting the mattress, and it cannot do that job once it is saturated. The comforter or quilt itself needs two or three washes a year, plus one before it goes into storage and one when it comes back out.
And yes, the pillows themselves. Every four to six months. Most pillows are machine washable, two at a time to keep the drum balanced, and they must be dried completely or the filling will hold moisture and start to smell.
Almost none of that fits in a home washer. Our large capacity machines take comforters, quilts, mattress protectors and pillows without cramming, and our dryers finish the filling all the way through. Bring the whole bed at once.
Done right every time.
