Interesting facts about.......PILL BUGS and SILVERFISH!
Pill bugs (rolly pollies) are not actually bugs, they are actually crustaceans most closely related to shrimp and crawfish. They are good to have in your garden because they eat the rotting plant life. They eat their own p**p in order to conserve copper which is essential for them to live. While we are talking about “that end,” they can also drink with their a**s!

Silverfish are prehistoric. They have been around for about 400 million years. They eat things like newspaper, glue and other starchy or fibrous type substances, which can make them harmful to your clothes and upholstery. Silverfish outside the home are wonderful to have as they are composters. Inside your home however, can mean that you have an underlying moisture problem as they like high humidity areas.

Interesting facts about....FLEAS!

Fleas can live between 2 months and 100 days without a meal.

If fleas were human, they would be able to jump the Eiffel Tower in one leap.

The life cycle of a flea is broken into 4 parts: egg, larva, pupa and adult. The pupa is practically impenetrable with any substance that is why it is important to kill off the eggs and larva.

Interesting facts about....ANTS!

Ants are found almost everywhere on earth except the Antarctic and Artic areas. Carpenter ants, house ants and pavement ants are the most common species of ants treated in the United States. Worker ants in a colony are all female (typical, right ladies). Any males in the colony only have one job, to mate with the queen (lucky guys!).

Ants can become zombies! There is the zombie-ant fungus that hijacks the ants mind and forces the body to cling to the stem of a plant so that the fungus can grow through the ants head and produce spores.

Ants do not have hearts or lungs. They have an aorta type vessel that pumps their blood but it does not carry oxygen. They receive their oxygen through a set of tubes throughout their body.

Interesting Facts!

Bees and wasps survive harsh winters but not without risk.

For both bees and wasps, queens are the first to go in forage of food. They must find food within the first day or risk death.

Bees stay active in the winter. They huddle and vibrate their bodies to produce heat and consume the honey. They consume the honey that they acquire throughout the warmer months in order to stay fed and hydrated. Fertilized eggs become female workers, unfertilized eggs become male drones.

Unlike bees, the majority of wasps actually die in the winter. The only wasps that stay alive are the females that will become queens the following spring.
