We closed our family owned and operated business for a full week to go on family vacation. We had some hired help for our ongoing bin services, but that’s it- nothing else was done this week & it felt so good.
As a family owned & operated small business, taking the full week off together wasn’t even something I thought we could do ever again, this time last year. Last year the hubby & I went away on an epic adventure to Alaska and I stressed and planned for months. Plan A, B, C & D- b/c last year we had given priority to the most unpredictable services we offered, I even took my laptop and checked in every day.
This year we left with no stress, our clients were notified, moved & accommodated of course- but the laptop stayed home, the calls went to VMs, texts responded to that I would follow up when we returned.
Taking the time off, has actually given me room to not feel overwhelmed with the things we’ve been mulling over. Things like branding and nich’ing, things that felt like way to much to even think about, let alone execute.
I love our little business, I love our reason behind it, and I’ve loved every client and property.
But this version of our business, the one that’s lets me show up….and slow down- is the version I love the most. 🥰
Just a reminder for my other small business friends, it’s ok to take the pause, make the memories, change your version as many times as you need to & actually enjoy your full & beautifully blessed life.
Afternoon locked in: invoices sent, properties checked, calls/texts returned, schedules set for the week.
