The Straits Times just reported that every year, about 90 employers in Singapore are penalised for not giving their helper her mandatory monthly rest day. ๐จ
Honestly, most employers who get penalised aren't doing it out of spite. Life gets busy, and sometimes the guidelines like these slip through the cracks.
Since 2023, every domestic helper is entitled to one rest day a month that cannot be compensated away, not even if she's willing to work. The maximum penalty is a $10,000 fine, a year's jail, or both.
And here's the thing, a helper who gets to rest, recharge, and have time for herself comes back ready to give your family her very best. It really is a win for everyone. ๐
