🏎️ KGC EDUCATION SERIES: THE ROTARY ENGINE 101 🏎️

Ever heard a car go "Brap-brap-brap" or seen a "spinning triangle" logo and wondered what the hype was about?

Welcome to Engine School at KGC Workshop! Today, we’re breaking down the legendary Rotary (Wankel) Engine for our fellow newbies. 🎓🔧

💡 WHAT IS IT?

In a normal car, pistons go UP and DOWN (like your legs on a bicycle).

In a Rotary engine, a rounded triangular ROTOR spins smoothly in a circle inside an oval housing. No pistons, no valves—just pure, continuous rotation!

🔄 HOW DOES IT WORK? (The 4 Stages)
As the triangle spins, it does four jobs at once on its different sides:

1️⃣ INTAKE: Sucks in air and fuel.

2️⃣ COMPRESSION: Squeezes the mix into a tight corner.

3️⃣ COMBUSTION: Spark plugs ignite the mix—BOOM! It keeps the triangle spinning.

4️⃣ EXHAUST: Pushes the burnt gases out the back.

✅ THE PROS (Why we love them):
✨ Super Smooth: No vibrating pistons. It feels like a turbine!
✨ Lightweight: Tiny engine = better handling for the car.
✨ High Revving: These engines LOVE to spin fast. The sound is iconic!

⚠️ THE CHALLENGES (What to watch for):

⛽ Thirsty: They love petrol (and a bit of oil) more than your average car.

🛠️ Maintenance: They require a specialist's touch. "Apex Seals" (the tips of the triangle) are the most famous parts that need care.

💨 Emissions: Because they burn a little oil by design, they aren't the "greenest," but they are definitely the most soul-stirring!

🏆 LEGENDARY STATUS:
Think of the famous Mazda RX-7 or the RX-8. These cars are cult classics because of this unique heart.
