It’s called Republic Act No. 11697, also known as the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA). In simple terms, it helps support EV adoption in the country by promoting electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and a broader roadmap for EV industry development in the Philippines.

What makes this important is that EVIDA is not only about the vehicles themselves. It also recognizes that EV growth depends on a bigger ecosystem — including charging stations, standards, research, and long-term planning. The law created the Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry (CREVI) to help guide that transition.

Under the law, certain corporate and government entities are required to ensure that at least 5% of their fleet will be EVs within the timeframe set under the roadmap.
