Most septic systems have an effluent filter installed at the outlet of the tank.

👉 if yours doesn’t have one, give your Drainlayer a call as it’s an easy job that adds years to a septic system.

Its job is to stop solids flowing into your fields which can cause premature failure.

Septic tank maintenance includes Regularly checking and cleaning this filter to make sure it’s not clogged.

Easy to do & is a great chore for any teenager in the house.

Puts the joy back into parenting. 🤢🤢

⚠️⚠️ Remember to wear gloves!!! 🧤

😁😁. The way they both peer into the pipe at the end!

This old concrete tank has done well and will stay in place but trenches have got to the end of their life.

So we are replacing failed old school standard septic trenches with ETS beds which are more suited to soil and current standards.

If you e got an older septic at your place, here are 3 Signs that your septic trenches may have failed:

1️⃣ boggy areas of lawn
2️⃣ slow running drains
3️⃣ sulphur smell after it rains

If you think your septic needs some TLC, give us a call. We specialise in wastewater installs & repair of older septic systems in the Whangarei region.

You know it’s time to bring out the grinder when you start to see the bottom of the trench smear.

This messes with the absorption ability of the soil.

We don’t want that.

I’ve saved you the time (and also proof I’m not spouting BS) and asked our best bud Chats for the pros of doing this to the digger bucket:

1️⃣ Cleaner Cuts: A sharp edge cuts through dirt and roots efficiently, preventing the “tearing” or smearing of clay/soil that happens with a blunt, worn edge.

2️⃣ Reduced Drag: Sharp teeth or cutting edges require less force to pe*****te the ground, which prevents the excessive surface friction that causes smeared surfaces.

3️⃣ Improved Efficiency: Sharp, maintained blades or teeth (especially carbide-tipped) enhance cutting performance in tough, compacted, or soft, wet soils.

It’s been a rough few years for businesses Everyone needs a plan B.
here’s my audition reel.

For everyone else, here are the 3 top Must Do’s
To keep your septic thriving through Winter:

1️⃣ reduce Wastewater flow to the septic (particularly on rainy days). Short showers, spread out washing etc

2️⃣ check to see that stormwater isn’t flooding your septic trenches. Divert it if necessary by digging an open trench above the field.

3️⃣ check if your septic tank needs to be emptied. Over time solids build up in the tank and reduce the efficiency of treatment. This causes untreated solids to wash through to the fields and can clog your septic trenches and results in early failure.

We have the privilege of getting glimpses into other people’s dreams.

Lifestyle changes, moves to the Country or taking it all off grid.

Loads of people talk about it,
But not enough do it.

Secondary treated wastewater system with pressure compensating drip irrigation lines.

She’s a beast of a system that is hard to top.

Suits most sites, soils and is as sophisticated as onsite wastewater gets.

Short summary on How it works:

1️⃣ Wastewater gets aerated in the treatment tanks which fast tracks effluent treatment.

2️⃣ The secondary treated wastewater is then pumped (even uphill) to a drip irrigation area.

3️⃣ The drip irrigation evenly distributes the wastewater over a large area at the same time - so no pooling or failed trench issues.

The benefits of this system is that you can put it (almost) anywhere and it works:

👉 clay soils
👉steeper sites
👉 tiered sites (you can split the field to multiple locations using a sequencing valve)
👉 you can use the drip line for landscape irrigation or under a lawn.
👉 no smells
👉superior treatment

If you are the type of person who wants the best, doesn’t want to F*around with opinions and options, then start here.

I did say I was going to save you time.

The one we have in the video is called a Cleansream TXR. It’s a single, concrete system manufactured by Duracrete, a local Whangarei Company.

We’ve installed A LOT of these over the years and you’d be hard pressed to find something better.

They have an in-house service team and they answer their calls.

And no. I’m not getting paid to post this, but I should be😁
