Sometimes you wonder how other companies produce a product at a price you could never match, other times you question how some make more profit and this is a job that left us questioning why?
We were asked to replace the double glaze units in these doors, the owners described loud bangs in the night, turns out it was their glass cracking. Once we got into the removal of the old glass we noticed that there was insufficient clearance around the units due to the undersized rebates as well as the angle on the bottom rail not extending to under the glass unit to allow water to drain away out the drainage holes and sealant was only used in the back of the rebate.
But the biggest problem with these doors was the failure to use safety glass 😳 and this is where this company saved money and someone else probably missed out being too expensive.
With all those issues now sorted these home owners can now rest assured no one would be serious hurt if an accident did happen.
