Silvered timber without sacrificing water repellency? 👀

We’re currently monitoring a new timber protection system on decking. One month in, the timber is continuing to weather naturally, but as you can see, water is still beading on the surface.

The idea? Allow timber to develop that natural silver-grey appearance while helping protect it from moisture absorption. It’s early days, but the initial results are looking promising.

We’ll keep monitoring this one over the coming months!

Some clients want a natural finish, others enhanced colour, while some prioritise resistance to oil, grease and everyday staining.

This example demonstrates an oil-repellent treatment designed to reduce absorption and make ongoing maintenance easier.

An added benefit is that modern penetrating treatments can often be applied much sooner than traditional systems, allowing protection to begin earlier, even through winter.
