CASTELL CAERNARFON CASTEL
In light of the weekends Royal ties, we thought it might be nice to share with you our local impressive castle.
Built by Edward I 700 years ago and our new King Charles enjoying his investiture within these very walls only 56 years prior to his coronation.
The walls encircle the town and its waterside position dominates both land and sea.
Well worth an afternoon wander with so much to do locally, you could easily fill a day!

COAST OF CYMRU
when you think of a holiday away, what comes to mind?
If beaches are top of your list, then Wales definitely delivers.
At 870 miles long, it is one of the only coasts in the world to have a continuously accessible path along its entire route!
Ice cream, fish and chips, sandy toes and sunsets border the west of the UK with mountainous backdrops and some of the most beautiful and quiet spots to be found in Wales.

☆ SNOWDON/YR WYDDFA ☆
Wales and, in particular, Snowdonia National Parks maim attraction.
If you are coming all the way to Wales for your staycation, then this is very possibly high up on your list of things to do!
Standing 1085m tall with 360° view (we hope!) And with 7 well maintained and varying difficulty paths up to the peak, it's definitely worth marking a day out to try your boots at this adventure.
With regular sherpa bus runs throughout the day during peak season parking isn't the issue folk think it might be and the exciting news that the cafe is reopening this season at the summit can help motivate you to the top.
If you don't want to walk, jump on the train!

• OGWEN VALLEY •
We love the Ogwen Valley, a total tourist hotspot in the summer season, and for good reason too!
There is, of course, the main attraction of Llyn Ogwen impressively bordered on all sides by 5 of Wales' highest peaks.
A stunning collection of walks all begin here at the Ogwen Tourist information centre, suitable for all abilities from little legs to 4 legs, and it's open all year round.
There are multiple lakes, rivers, and waterfalls and even 2 perfectly situated campsites right at the base of the mountains!

Parking is a notorious issue in the valley, although an early arrival will often snag you the perfect spot within easy walking of whichever adventure you are taking. Alternatively, why not park either in Bethesda the small Welsh village at the coastal end of Ogwen and hop on the bus, for those of you feeling fit a circular route along the skyline summits of the this magical place will have you back to your car before sunset!

• HISTORY OF SLATE •
Once you have secured your cosy getaway accommodation, chosen your home from home, the next important series of decisions is what is available to do during your stay.
The historic slate quarries that are scattered across North Wales offer atmospheric walks through a long industrial period of time that once affected a huge number of Welsh families.
Free to access and steeped in stories, the Anglesey Barracks here are a rare insight into the primitive living conditions that many endured whilst toiling day after day to provide the country near and far with a native building material.
22 tiny units symmetrically placed in 2 rows of 11, high up on the valley, dominated above by the steep and towering slate heaps of unused quarried material once housed 88 quarrymen from Monday morning to Saturday midday. Many born on the nearby Isle of Anglesey, these men would make the long journey often by foot to these cramped dwellings living 4 to each low ceiling, damp and chilly space for the majority of their week in order to earn the hard won living supporting their families who remain some 60 miles away or more on Ynys Môn.
Journeying back home late on a Saturday afternoon only to return for the early morning call of Monday to repeat their working schedule.
It was a hard life, hours were long, and living conditions were basic right up until as late as 1948 when a health and safety inspection declared the 'houses' unfit for purpose.

There are plenty of routes available online, taking you through the recently declared UNESCO World Heritage Site. Winding up through woodland, ascending disused Inclines, scattered remnants of quarry machinery now inhabited by the notorious herds of goats and slowly being reclaimed by nature.
