🐀 You’ve got to hand it to rats… they are some of the most capable, resourceful, and persistent animals on the planet.
This photo was supplied by a client we treated this week. The rat was found hanging UPSIDE DOWN trying to reach the sweet treat at the base of this bird feeder — approximately 2.5 metres up a tree beside a first-floor balcony.
Honestly, even after years in pest control, they can still have a veteran pesty scratching his head occasionally. These animals are incredibly athletic, intelligent, adaptable, and courageous. If there’s food involved, they will test every angle, every route, and every possibility until they succeed.
They have travelled the globe alongside humans, hitching rides on ships, trucks, cargo, and just about anything else imaginable. They’ve populated nearly every corner of the world because they are masters of survival. 🌍
Q. Amazing creatures?
A. Absolutely.
Q. Do they deserve respect?
A. Also absolutely.
Q. Do they pose a serious health and safety risk to humans, businesses, food environments, and infrastructure?
A. Unfortunately yes.
As impressive as they are, rats can spread disease, contaminate food, damage property, and create significant health and safety risks. That’s why professional control and ongoing management is so important.
Nature is fascinating… but some wildlife belongs outside, not sharing our homes and workplaces. 🐀
