Preview of the Mudernism Sample Book at Ceramics Market ✨
, Amsterdam
Sunday 1 March — 12.00–18.00
Free entrance

This Sunday I will present a selection of Mudernism cups and tableware with newly developed glazes, alongside a first preview of the Mudernism Sample Book currently in development. 💫

Mudernism, ceramics from water treatment residues
Water moves in cycles through bodies, landscapes and generations. Mudernism celebrates these cycles through glazes made from residues of wastewater treatment. Materials we usually flush away return as surface and colour, captured in glaze and transformed into objects for daily use.

During the market, I will also share a preview of the Mudernism Sample Book: a treasure trove filled with colourful gems made from burnt sewage sludge. It documents the archive of ongoing glaze research developed from wastewater materials.

My project Field Fabric is currently on view as part of the exhibition Knit and Weave at Schloss Hollenegg. 🌾

The work explores the potential of straw, a byproduct of grain farming, and transforms it through tufting, felting, and weaving into tactile samples. Materials that trace the landscape without illustrating it.

Grains have shaped landscapes and civilisations for millennia, feeding both bodies and cultures. Yet today, grain farming often prioritises yield over diversity or taste, distancing us from the landscapes and systems we are part of.
These samples are more than material explorations; they are proposals for a future where landscapes, craft, and natural rhythms shape how and why we create. 💫

Thank you and curator .pic for including my work in this beautiful exhibition and remarkable place. 🏰

The Netherlands has an abundance of geese, creating tensions between nature, agriculture, and human intervention. Every year, tens of thousands of geese are culled, yet most of them go to waste. Some time ago, for (Wild Goose Day), I explored a different perspective: how can we give meaning to the inedible parts of the goose?
Using handmade paper crafted from goose feathers, I invited visitors to write letters to the geese—addressing them directly rather than just discussing them. These letters, attached to kites made from the same feather paper, were carried by the wind back to the birds. A gesture of reflection, connection, and revaluation.

Check out Ventri on ✨

This Ventri Bag is a prototype made from Ventri leather, crafted from the rumen, a cow’s first stomach. Ventri transforms cow stomachs, often considered waste, into beautiful, textured leather pieces. This bag has been featured in international exhibitions and is now available as part of x Catawiki, curated by .

For Brief 33 🪡— a few needles gave their all for this straw basket 🪦

This summer, from and from invited me to join a project rethinking local grain production. 🌾The project celebrates ancient grains for their health benefits, rich flavours, and contributions to biodiversity and soil health. My part is to investigate uses for residual grain, exploring how waste materials can add value to the system.

I adore working with straw, so for Basket Club, I transformed one of my samples into this charming little basket. We’re still experimenting, but the possibilities are exciting! 💫

Curious about the project? check it out at this December! And thanks to for the straw. 💛

💫Last chance today!💫 The & Alumni Auction is closing today at 20h, and I’m honoured to have a few unique pieces included. Among them are a selection of my MUDERNISM cups.

MUDERNISM reimagines iconic prehistoric vessels glazed with byproducts from modern wastewater treatment. Each cup is handmade in my Amsterdam studio, making it unique with subtle imperfections. This project explores material reuse from wastewater, like fly ash, kaumera and vivianite, while paying tribute to ancient Dutch design and the eternal water cycle.

It’s exciting to be part of this event alongside many talented Design Academy Eindhoven alumni. If you’re interested, this is a chance to explore and buy unique work!

These sculptures are upholstered in Ventri cow stomach leather. They are part of the installation Organ Without a Body. The organ without a body has been the subject of my artistic research over the past years. I investigated how an organ outside a body can problematise the discourse around the concept of life to provoke a less rigid opposition between life and matter.

The installation Organ Without a Body consists of sculptures made from the Ventri cow stomach leather and ceramic livers containing an Organ Without a Body-perfume. Some visitors were observed secretly stroking and even cuddling the objects. The completely artificial organ-scent repelled some, while others found it comforting.

We know flowers as soft and feminine. Flowers bring colour to your home and stand for performance, comfort and love. Flowers are also temporary. They will hang, fall apart, and decay.
Together with , we printed expired flowers into textiles using the force of the hammer. The rather brutal method of hitting the flowers produces unexpected forms and patterns. 🥀🔨
