As part of the Executive Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government, Amb. Chijoke Ihunwo’s commitment to good governance, the Obio-Akpor Sanitation Committee, led by Chairman Hon. Chidi Okene, continues its efforts to promote a cleaner environment.

Recently, the Committee's Vice Chairman, Hon. Elvis Azuta, along with member Hon. Solomon Eze, visited Rumuodumaya Market for ongoing inspections and sensitization. They emphasized the dangers of littering and indiscriminate waste disposal, highlighting its negative impact on both the environment and public health.

Traders were urged to maintain cleanliness within the market as they conduct their businesses. The Obio-Akpor Sanitation Office has made it clear that littering and improper waste disposal will not be tolerated.

A CLEAN DRAINAGE PROMOTES A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT

Bisong Emmanuel, a resident of Obio-Akpor, living at No. 43 NTA Apara Link Road, Rumuigbo, has taken the initiative to improve sanitation in his community.

As a responsible and patriotic citizen, Emmanuel dedicated his time and effort to cleaning the drainage system in his neighborhood. He emphasized the importance of a clean environment, stating:

"Keeping my surroundings clean, including gutters and walkways, is essential for maintaining hygiene, preventing pest infestations, and ensuring a safe and healthy living space."

OPERATION KEEP OBIO-AKPOR CLEAN 🚯

The Obio-Akpor Sanitation Office has launched its Neighborhood Sensitization and Clean-Up Campaign in alignment with the vision of the Executive Chairman of Obio-Akpor, Hon. Amb. Chijoke Ihunwo , to create a cleaner and greener Obio-Akpor.

This initiative, tagged "Operation Keep Obio-Akpor Clean," aims to educate residents of the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area on the importance of maintaining a clean environment. The campaign emphasizes avoiding littering and the indiscriminate dumping of waste in drainages, roads, and open spaces. Residents are also reminded that violations of environmental sanitation laws will attract strict penalties.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE OBIO-AKPOR SANITATION COMMITTEE

As we step into 2025, we wish you a prosperous New Year filled with limitless blessings, good health, and abundance in all areas of life.

Guided by the vision of our Executive Chairman, Amb. Chijoke Ihunwo, to promote socio-economic development, environmental sustainability, and the safety of lives and properties, the Obio-Akpor Sanitation Committee reaffirms its dedication to fostering a cleaner, greener, and healthier Obio-Akpor for all residents.

To achieve this vision, we have planned a series of impactful programs and initiatives for the first quarter of the year:

• Public Education and Awareness: Promoting proper waste management practices.

• Community Collaboration: Working with residents to eliminate littering and improper waste disposal on streets, roads, drainages, and abandoned lands.

• Clean Drainage Campaigns: Engaging communities to maintain clean and litter-free drainages.

• Regulation of Waste Operators: Ending the activities of unlicensed waste operators and scavengers.

• Regular Cleanup Exercises: Conducting routine cleanups and monitoring markets, parks, business areas, and communities.

• Enforcement Measures: Taking action against sanitation defaulters to ensure compliance.
