13 Years Ago — A Lesson I’ll Never Forget 💭

Today makes it exactly 13 years since I helped someone’s mother on my way to open my own mother’s shop before going to school.

That morning, after opening my mum’s shop and rushing home to prepare for school, a woman stopped me on the road and begged me to help her carry a carton of fish to her shop.

Out of kindness, I agreed. The carton of ice fish was very heavy, but I carried it all the same.

When we got to her shop, I expected a simple “thank you.”
But she said nothing.

I stood there waiting — still nothing. I felt a sting in my little heart because, as a child, hearing thank you meant the world to me. It was a sign that my effort was seen, that I had done something good.

From that day, I promised myself never to greet her again. I even called her “the ungrateful woman.”

Now that I’m grown, I look back and smile — not out of anger, but from understanding. That experience taught me the importance of appreciation.

✨ Dear adults, please always thank little children when they help you. It may seem small to you, but to them, it’s everything. A simple thank you can build their confidence and inspire a lifetime of kindness.
